Just trying to understand.. Fashionphile has LV's listed at over retail pricing, for bags that are currently available and in stock on LV's website. I understood this when LV's site was constantly sold out of several items during Covid. But now that most things are back in stock, I don't get the massive markups for used bags.

For ex, FP has a Damier Ebene key pouch listed at $450. It's currently available on LV's website for $325. They also had canvas Speedy 20s listed at $2895 (!) Which are now discounted to $2600 and $2025 (lol).

Is the Affirm payment plan worth that much of a markup?? Like if you can't afford to spend $325 direct from LV, you are going to pay $125 over new retail / $450 so you make payments on it?

Just because an item is listed for a price, doesn’t mean it will sell for that price. FP may have been too aggressive with their quote price and now has to sell for that amount or lose money. They also might have bought the item when the LV website was out of stock and thought they could attain that price but now that it’s back in stock they look foolish. Also, some people sell items to FP and take store credit with a bonus as payment so they’d be forced to pay whatever FP asks if they want the item. And don’t forget that some people get banned from shopping LV directly so FP might be their next best choice. Who knows, but if they really list for crazy prices then the items won’t sell and they will reduce it eventually until it does. They are only hurting themselves, especially in this ever falling market.

It will be interesting to see their site correct itself with the downturn of our economy. I can already see it with huge reductions on the Speedy 20's that were listed at $2895. IMO buying on the preloved market should be less than retail, not more than, regardless of how I am choosing to pay for it (Affirm, store credit, etc). Thanks for the insight!

It’s because when you sell a bag with them you have the option to get bonus money if you take payment as a site credit.

They are keeping those items out of reach, trying to get people to spend the site credit on them.
