Looks like wine, olive, and brown are being added to a lot of the Dooney
styles this fall. I'm seeing these colors show up in both the Florentine offerings
and the pebbled leather. The color lineups are very much typical seasonal colors...
with an occasional red, navy, black, elephant and fuchsia thrown in. Of course, natural is
always part of the Florentine collections.
I'm not seeing the jewel tones or bright colors. The palette is clearly 'autumn'...
pehaps that will keep me from buying more handbags for a while.

Florentine ivy also.
Love Florentine Ivy.
Over the years, I've discovered that when a handbag I like is available in a new or
special color, I should buy it. Colors come and go, sometimes never to return.
In the 'old days' the Dooney Florentine satchel was available in about 24 colors...
including lavender and aqua and sunflower yellow and kelly green, and plum, to name a few. It was easy to find several shades of blue and several shades of brown all at the same time.

Then all the 'colors' disappeared and there was black, natural, chestnut, and red.
Navy became rare. Dark Tmoro brown disappeared. Pretty colors were no more.
Over time we have seen the return of some 'color'.... and when I see it,
if I love it, I grab it. I've added fuchsia, pale blue, and teal and ivy to my Florentine collection over the last few years. And because I'm a collector, sometimes I add more than
one style if I really love the color. (I need to stop doing that). But I still think 1 bag
in any special color is a good idea.

I hope they start bringing the colors back. when I saw the pale blue, it got my attention. I don't do light colored bags, as I am clumsy and scare I will ruin it with stains. The plum, crimson, fuscia I would love to have in my collection. The steel blue is stunning, but the leather is/feels thin. I'm happy that's in my collection.

Yes! I love the fall colors. Seeing mushroomNgrass’ pix of their purses, I’m really liking the “midnight navy” color. I was also on the handbag subreddit, and saw someone’s post their Bordeaux satchel, the color is gorgeous! And I’m always attracted to the green color. I’ve been focusing my vintage searches for bags with in the “fir” color. I recently got this beauty, vintage equestrian in the olive color.

Beautiful. im on the subreddit but I’ve never posted there. Seems always high end luxury bags are the talk… I will however mention dooney and Bourke Florentine leather as quality and beautiful if anyone wants to slum it and get a break from LV Prada Chanel Loewe Chloe Hermes…

That’s true about the high end talk. I’m not about that luxury bag life LOL, not knocking them, they’re just not for me. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve read that LV uses the same Vacchetta leather D&B does.

I searched the sub, and there’s quite a bit of D&B talk in there. I was chatting with another user in there the other day, about our vintage collections. Most comments I’ve seen, rave about the Florentine satchels.

Changing into my Dooney Ivy croco satchel.
It's an oldie, but I was inspired to break out a
deep green handbag and this one hasn't been used
in a long time.
I also have a deep green Barlow from the City Collection,
but it's at the bottom of the handbag pile and I found this croco
satchel first.
I sold all the bags I wanted to sell over the weekend. An olive sold and the buyer had a change of heart and canceled the order.

I decided to put it back in my closet. It's my only green bag. After all this lovely chatter about D&B autumn colors, I think I may be glad the buyer changed their mind.

Ooh that's pretty! I love the Ivy and Teal in Croco. Is Croco the same as Denison collection?

Croco is the general term for the variety of crocodile/alligator embossing that Dooney
has done over the years. Each 'collection' uses a different croco 'pattern'. In some years
it's a very large scale, in some years it's smaller, in some years it's scale pattern is
larger in the center and smaller at the sides. Some of the croco versions have more shine and others are more matte. I've seen at least 6 different croco embossed
patterns over the years.

I think the Denison is a larger scale than
is on my croco (I don't know the collection name). Also my bag is trimmed with a
butterscotch colored leather for the handles, side corners, and other leather accents.
The Denison collection has a very dark brown leather trim and the Dooney logo is
not done with the square plaque.

Croco embossing is very popular in fall collections when fashion focuses on
adding texture. Dooney doesn't always bring out a croco collection each year.
Sometimes that re-release the prior years collection or make minor changes.
Sometimes there are no new croco bags.
And in some years the Ostrich embossing is the focus of the new offerings.

You explained that perfectly! Now I understand why the Denison is always darker trim and larger pattern. Your bag with the butterscotch trim sounds absolutely stunning. I am going to look it up. I am not a fan of Ostrich so much in terms of texture. But I do have my eye on a crossbody or domed croco. I think it would be a lovely change from my florentine.

I wish I had purchased the chestnut? croco embossed satchel when it was out years ago.
Recently, I purchased a pair of flats in a darker brown croco embossed and I hope this means I'm a little in style.
I tend to like classic attire. I am a dooney lover! Somehow, I haven't been feeling very fashionable lately. I need to try to put together better head to toe looks.
I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow. That may be a start.
Good weekend to all.

I'm guessing you always look put together. It's just that we have such
high standards for ourselves. Dooney does a great job with dark brown croco
embossing and also cognac embossing. And you don't have to have
croc embossed shoes matched with a croco embossed bag. A plain leather
in the same color will look very rich.

If you want to purchase a Dooney croco this year, keep checking
ILD for styles in the Denison croco collection or maybe another one
they release. And the cognac is a stunning color.... I was amazed at how much
I liked it.
