I went to a fall RTW event at my store last year. I shop in a smaller store, so it was great to have a larger selection of items to try on. There was someone from corporate there who worked in RTW specifically who was able to give a ton of info on the pieces, inspiration and history etc.

I ended up purchasing a dress.

Yep. Going tomorrow. You can think of it as a traveling roadshow. Corporate sends product and staff to a certain store for certain days where all can be purchased or ordered and you can speak to specialists about anything else. When that’s finished, they move to another store and take the additional items with them. The selection that the store has for RTW returns back to their own stock.

tomorrow is the runway show and party hosted by Hermes. Nadege will be present. Invitees tend to be interested in RTW pieces. You can also schedule separate, personal rendevous appts for your own rtw (you can let your SA know what you like and they will curate a rack for you). In my case, my SA picks what she thinks would work on me. ( I changed SAs but know the new one well and like her taste). I haven’t been to many events, but I think the Re-see, what other brands call trunk show, earlier this year, was where we could slip a few items on and tell the SA, or women’s RTW manager (my SA was out of town) what to order.* If I’ve confused the terms, hopefully another member will correct

* there is no commitment bc 1. Paris could easily decide not to produce a runway piece, and 2. It could look horrible on. However, the store will have a strong idea of which pieces and how many to order, and I would only ask to see pieces that I am quite likely to purchase. Forgot to add that another reason why I don’t pick is I tend to pick unrealistic things, like the backless apron dress. In my mind, I am much taller and slimmer lol

ETA: The SM and SAs ask clients if they are interested, available, and in town, weeks before formal invites are sent. Perhaps they do this to gauge attendance, IDK. Rendezvous slots start the day before, but I like to go afterwards bc I think you will be able to see more.

I have never attended one of these events before, and I'm lost on what to wear! Most of the RTW that I've purchased are coats (and it's going to be 80 degrees on Thursday!). What are people typically wearing to these events?

For a brands event, I wear the brand. In this case, Hermes RTW, H bag and shoes

Otherwise, try classic, neutral colored separates without another designers obvious logo (no chanel or dior) or obvious style imprint

And this brings up the point that there are two events. The one we are going to is in our store like the traveling roadshow. There are also off-site events that we never seem to be available for.

I'm wearing H RTW top but non-H skirt, H heels and H bag. My husband is probably only going to have a H belt on, if that lol.
At the men's runway show last September in Brooklyn there were a lot of people in H, but there were also quite a few in non-H and carrying non-H bags (could be the plus one's is what I was thinking) so don't worry if you don't have H RTW you want to wear. This venue is also huge and I think there will be a ton of people, so I think it will all get lost in the shuffle anyways. I'm excited for the show!!

I was planning a cute outfit, but if it’s still raining, meh, I don’t care. I don’t want to throw an H raincoat over it all bc it’s going to be hot. So will wear an H outfit, bag and shoes, but something relatively rain safe

Am worried that there will be a fashion focus on muddy yellow given the color of the invites.

Rain has stopped! Cute outfit pls haha.
I plan on wearing mostly H, except for shoes, for some reason all my H shoes are on the casual side.

Really enjoyed the show and the after party tonight! Also great seeing some TPF’ers in real life lol!! Here are some pics. Got a good one of Anna Wintour lol. Caught a glance of Usher but did not get a pic. Food was ok. Raw bar was good, but I think the spread was better at the Brooklyn show. The singer was Caroline Polachek (I think).
ETA: I just watched the website version and the music live was totally different! It was much more upbeat!
