Fake Chanel on the cover of newsweek?

I saw this in my local gym and was like wow, I gotta have this clutch/wallet. When I took a closer look, instead of the hallmark in the cc indicating it is gold plated, it was an "R". Red flag. The article is not about Chanel though, it's about Americans spending again. Nonetheless, a well respected magazine of general circulation should at least used a real one. Or am I wrong? Thoughts ladies?

just throwing it out there... and i'm def against fakes.. but perhaps is it possible that they aren't allowed to use a real chanel bag in the picture?? like it could be perhaps a chanel trademark issue.. and on that note.. i really doubt chanel would want a picture of of their wallet.. attached to such a negative news article... especially splashed across the front page.
