Fabric protection at Dry cleaners

I just got a new Louis Vuitton Trench coat and it is an ivory color. I love the coat but want to make sure that I do not ruin it. The manager said something about dry cleaners being able to apply a type of scotch guard to coats etc.

Have you guys ever heard of this or had this done?

I've never heard of it, but you should ask. This isn't exactly related, but I have heard that getting things dry cleaned helps prevent moths (something about the chemicals). Not sure what your coat is made of, but if it's wool or cashmere (or something similar), it might be good to get the dry cleaned.
