Hey everyone. I think I finally figured out that the reason I'm so allergic to some eye shadows is because of the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride. So now I'm willing to experiment with new brands.

I thought about trying out Clinique since they're supposed to be good for sensitive skin, but I can't find a list of the ingredients in their eye shadows!

Do you have any brand suggestions for eye shadows without Bismuth Oxychloride in the main ingredient list (or even in the 'may contain' list)?

Hmm...that's very interesting that you are figuring it out. Lots of luck with that.

This is my absolute favorite brand of makeup: e.l.f. They are super cheap and really good quality (IMO of course). I checked the ingredients and "Bismuth Oxychloride" wasn't listed. This is the main website: http://www.eyeslipsface.com/home They have a few different lines. The main dollar line eyeshadow doesn't contain that ingredient and neither does the new studio line shadows. I did notice the mineral line shadows do contain it.

If you are interested in trying it and aren't sure about colors I can do swatches for you (if you wanted of course). I have all of the studio shadows (minus charcoal) and half of the dollar quads.

The Everyday minerals line doesn't contain any bismuth oxychloride, so definitely try those out if you are allergic! They even have new freebie sets to try their eyeshadows and you only pay for shipping! They only have 2 sets though with pre-set colors but you can test out their great quality.

These are the e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color Quads. I used the Studio Eye Primer underneath and I applied them rather heavy to really see the color.

That was fun! After taking all the swatches I realized wow do I have a lot of eyeshadows. They are such an inexpensive price that I don't mind buying so many and the good thing is if the color isn't what you expect or you don't like it, you didn't waste a lot of money. Another thing I notice is that being that I used the primer underneath when I went to wash them off I had to rub fairly hard with soap and water to get them off.

Lots of luck finding shadows that don't bother your eyes.
Enjoy

While I haven't been able to find ingredients for Clinique's eyeshadows, I've read they do use Bismuth Oxychloride in some of their products. If you are allergic, I'd just stay away to be on the safe side.

great thread! i think i'm allergic to Bismuth Oxychloride too. the Revlon ColorStay shadows don't seem to bother me.
and i recently bought a bunch of those^^ELF studio shadows^^^thanks for the swatches!

Cool Tracy. Hope you like them. What colors did you order?

Oh I completely forgot to mention that they always have coupon codes. Just google elf coupons and you'll find a bunch of codes. I bought the studio shadows using the 75% off code and got them for only 75 cents. I don't think that code works anymore but they do have 50% off codes.

I bought all my ELF w/that coupon too---such a good deal on an already good deal! lol
I got the Studio e/s in:
Mystic Moss
wild wheat
sand dollar
saddle
charcoal

and i got the duo e/s cream in Butter Pecan---this is the only one I have tried and i experienced no itching!

Also there is a line of Mineral makeup w/out BO---Aromaleigh---I got a few of their e/s samples and they are wonderful! They have SO many colors.
