I am thinking of getting Botox for my frow lines and filler for my cheeks. I know they are both not long lasting so wonder even if it’s worth it for a few months.
- What did you get Botox, filler or both?
- What type of Botox or filler did you have, hylaronic acid, sculptra, juvederm?
- Which areas? Target problem e.g. wrinkles, hollow skin
- Noticeable difference after Botox or filler? Did family or friends notice?
- Any problems? E.g. bruising, swelling, anything serious?
- Would get it again? Or if you have had it regularly how often do you get yours?
- Anything else I should know? Or non invasive skin treatments to consider?
Both can be quite long lasting. There have been times I’ve gone six to eight months. I believe that either people have to have this more often if they are unusually expressive (another member of my family is), but more likely the Botox has been diluted.
1. Both
2. Vollure Filler and IDK what kind of Botox. I’ve also had a variety of dark skin lasers (Ella max, pico sure, clear and brilliant, for discoloration and to help with overall aesthetics).
3. An experienced cosmetic dermatologist will not just inject problem areas, but have you make certain faces and take pics.
The Botox will be applied around the entire area as needed, not just the actual wrinkle. You should still be able to make expressions and the area should not look frozen or shiny. For filler, primarily cheeks and jaw/chin
4. No noticeable difference. Even my mother, when she noticed, attributed any changes as from weight loss and relaxation.
5. No problems. I strongly recommend you do the research and go to the best, most experienced place. I personally would not
Go to a med spa. My cosmetic derm is extremely experienced and also is a dermatological surgeon. I have never esxperienced any of the horrors like migration of filler etc. I also personally would not travel for bargain procedures. I prefer to stay close to home.
6. I still get Botox. I found that I prefer fat graft to filler. More natural, more permanent. My cosmetic derm recommended a top surgeon double certified in ophthalmic and derm PS for a blepharo procedure, and I went with him (his wife is also a certified PS specialty). Despite some loss of experience fat graft (dur to natural attrition) I am thrilled with thr procedures. I expect to have some routine maintenance once or twice a decade. I did have a wet lipo procedure done (no cutting of the skin, and the recommendation is that this be done at your optimal weight, the weight loss to be very slow, gradual, and stable) and that is deliberately split into two separate procedures to keep the skin surface taut and at optimal condition.
7. I’m not really a fan of noninvasive procedures, and I have heard that things like thermage etc can make PS procedures down the road more difficult. I don’t know if that is the case or not, but I prefer to stick with what works for me.
For cosmetic dermatology, I go to NY laser:

Geronimus is excellent as are several drs there.
For fat graft, wet lipo, and blep, I recommend
