I recently purchased an LV bag from one of my favorite eBay sellers in Japan. I've owned a similar one with similar fabric and had no trouble putting it through the washing machine to clean it up. This one cost me about $400 and was somewhat used. I decided to hand wash it with Woolite in the sink rather than put it through the washing machine. I went to a lot of trouble washing it and rinsing it and squeezing it out. But at the end when I was holding it up to the light I could see something inside the lining which was turned inside out. It would be where the lining and the bag connect inside. There were bits of... stuff. Maybe it's the glue but it grossed me out so bad I just decided to throw the bag out. I guess I could have let it dry outside and then tried to resell it or something but just... Yuck.

I feel guilty wasting the money but I've just got to write this one off.

I probably would have done the same, worrying about what the "stuff" was! Peace of mind is worth more than the money, in my opinion.

I am so sorry, that is such a sad story. Poor bag, poor you.

I once bought a skirt online described as size 10 (I'm a UK 10)

Unfortunately, I didn't look closely enough, it was 'Age 10'. Even my niece was too old at the time (and she's tiny). It went straight to the charity shop.

It wasn't $400 though, I'd be crying. Most dirt can be brushed away over time without having to resort to washing.

Is it too far gone to donate? So sorry you went through that it feels terrible, when I’ve had bad shopping experiences I find that donating takes some of the sting out. One persons sad bag is another persons art project.

I pulled it out of the garbage can in my kitchen and hung it outside to dry in the sun. A little while ago I picked it up and when I shake it I can hear the crunching of whatever is inside the lining. Best case scenario it's lots of glue that's dried up. Worst case scenario it's a lot of mold and debris and crap. Anyway the bag smelled bad and it went right into the outdoor garbage. I thought about cutting it open to seeing what the stuff is on the inside but I'm afraid it'd creep me out too much. I often wonder if some of the items being sold from Japan went through a tsunami...

I know what you mean, Some of the Japanese stuff is just sad. Follow your instinct. Sorry that happened to you.
