Evaluation is different than sales person told me

I purchased a set of colored stone jewelry set with diamonds from Tiffany in store and the sales person told me the color of diamonds is D-F and clarity is IF-VS2.
However I just got the evaluation from Tiffany and it says color of G-J and clarity of IF -sI1.
This is a huge difference to me and I would not have bought it if I had known the truth, but I can't return it because I had it adjusted.
I messaged the sales person and she stuck to what she said verbally, but the documents are not the same.
I can't go back to the store easily as I live quite far.
What would you do?

That would be unacceptable to me. I would not purchase diamonds of this quality range, and certainly not at a Tiffany markup. Honestly, I would ask her again to confirm the specs that she told you, but via some written format like text message or email, then I would go back to the store with the written proof that you were misled and insist on returning the piece.

She confirmed what she said via text but the evaluation is not in agreement. I also only got the evaluation for one piece, not the full set so I need to wait for that.
I am upset and let her know that I wouldn't have bought it if I knew , but I did not hear back.
Sigh I might have to take another trip and go in store.

Yes, unfortunately I think this is probably worth a trip back to the store. My meaning was that since you wanted the item with the specs you were promised, instead of the item that you actually received which is of a lower quality but are concerned that you cannot return it, I am certain that Tiffany will allow you to return the item regardless of it being sized. You have written proof that the item you were sold, as described to you, is not the item that you received.

@Swanky Any idea how I would find a manager? This was in the tiffany landmark location in nyc.
@nicole0612 I hope they do agree, it's so frustrating.
Did you tell the sales associate directly that you wanted to return the item because the specifications in the official evaluation do not match the description of the item that she sold to you? If so, did she flatly say no? If so, tell her to please transfer you to a manager to escalate the request, or just call the store and ask to speak to a manager. If no one is available leave your phone number and they will call you back. I have always had excellent service, they will not refuse you. You certainly have grounds for a claim with your credit card, but it will not come to that certainly.

Oh dear. so sorry to hear this and this is a huge difference which is totally not acceptable. Which the sales person should know, being in fine jewellery sales!
i think you can try to write in as well, just via the "contact us" email on the website or maybe the most effective way is to just drop a comment on their social media, someone will definitely come back to you, and from there you can make sure it gets escalated to the right person.
Don't worry about not being able to return it just because you had it adjusted. If the item does not match the description given to you when you bought it, you have every right to return it.

You are the client, not an expert, you're relying on professionals. A GIA (or other certified) evaluation expert is completely different than an SA. An SA should be reading from the documentation and not giving their/her/his appraisal. The grades in colour and clarity are official and you will only be able to resell and have insurance for the cert given.

The base level is the official verdict (i.e. the evaluation). Since you were 'advised' in good faith by your SA in the first place and bought due to the info given at the time, you should escalate this.

So my husband took the items back to Tiffany with the evaluation and was able to do a full return and they returned our money.
I am disappointed with Tiffany tbh , I really feel like the salesperson mislead me and I'm relieved to be done with it.
Thank you everyone for encouraging me to return it because I would not have felt good wearing it and knowing it was not the quality I thought it was.

I can just imagine how relieved you are! Good for you for standing your ground. Phew
