Etsy - Custom Orders

I've placed many custom orders before, usually all the discussion (design, material etc.) gets discussed first, then a custom listing is a set up and I pay 100% upfront (just like I would with a premade item). It's always worked out amazingly so far!

I believe this depends on those independent sellers. So far all sellers i have dealt with are super friendly and quick on responding. All items I purchased and paid at front are exactly what I ordered.

I bought some custom rings and bangles which are quite size-specific, and paid upfront all the time. I don't really mind paying for it first if the seller has good ratings, as I'm someone who appreciate the artist's time and effort and it's only fair that I pay first. I can understand that sellers might be weary of dead buyers (had that experience before as a seller, and it's thoroughly annoying and worrying on my part).
