Epi Saint Cloud crossbody or Epi saint jacques?

I havent really bought a vintage piece before, so would love your opinions. There is a reputed consignment store in my city selling these two bags: the Saint Cloud crossbody, and the Saint Jacques tote. Pics below.

I didnt know that the Epi leather was vintage, to be honest. I thought it was the newer models that had this material. I've been wanting a black medium size crossbody or tote for a while now, so this piqued my interest.

Do any of you have/wear any of these two styles? Which do you think will stay classic for longer? WHat are your thoughts/experience with the epi leather?

Both are lovely but consider how you'd use them. I had a Saint Jacques I loved - sunny yellow with purple lining - to look at. The Epi leather is fantastic and doesn't show wear (unless you're really beating it around I suppose). But the shoulder straps slid off and I (personally) didn't like the narrower base when I was digging for stuff. I ended up selling it. Cross-body is more functional for me.

Have you visited the store to try both on and see how they work for you? Good luck with your decision!

I'm with you. I personally prefer cross-body straps more than tote bag straps too. Those straps always slip off my shoulders!

And yes, I plan to go in and see them in person this evening

I used to have the blue one (the large), and I also sold mine for the same reason that you did. It's a great looking bag, but not very functional. At least for me it wasn't.

I have had both many years ago.
They are so different! Both bags are beautiful and classic. Epi leather is durable and not sensible at all!
If you will have a look at the store you can deciede which one you like more. Good luck!

It was introduced in 1985, and they never stopped making it since then. And colours may come and go, but Noir is forever
My vote is for the Saint Jacques, so distinctly Vuitton.

St. Jacques. I LOVE MINE. You will find it is the most comfortable shoulder bag because of that taper and the shape is sooooo iconically Louis Vuitton. So chic. This bag is older than my college kids. (Those white marks are my phone’s problem, not my pristine St. Jacques.). But if you don’t do shoulder bags the St. Cloud crossbody is great too.
