Dear Purse Buddies:

I am considering a black epi handbag and accessories. If you have black epi, could you tell me how it wears. Also, do you think that the accessories look too masculine? Is it comfortable to carry as it is more structured. Do you recommend it?

Thank you!

hi, i have the cannes in black epi i got it for my mum but we both use it the bag is structured but that just makes the styles look neat imo, it wears so well very strong and can wipe clean. i love epi and the black is so classic and subtile you cant go wrong hth

Black Epi (and Epi in general) is so easy to wear. Stains can be easily wiped off the exterior. I like how structured most of the bags are too but that may be a drawback for some people who prefer more slouch. I find that the rolled leather handles and leather straps are comfortable to wear for several hours.

Epi is one of the strongest materials used by LV for their bags. I'd recommend you getting the epi because it is water resistant, suttle, classy, easy to maintain and you can use it for a very long time. If the handles do get a little old, you could replace it at LV (at US$100 - estimate). I personally think the structured-ness of the Epi bags are nice.

I agree with everyone that there is minimal to no maintanence for any epi leather bag. My madeleine GM is black and it's easy to wear, but for me it's a little bit more of a professional look and it's not in my regular rotation of my "every day" bags. I love the montaigne clutch too, I have it in white but I think it looks amazing in black as well.

I had my black Epi Speedy 30 to work for eight months in snow and pouring rain and still looking almost like new. The only thing to watch out for is scratches from type brick walls but no bags Epi or other would survive this. I also love that it's structured and that it's all leather. I would myself choose some colorful accessories though.

I had a couple bags in black epi, I ended up selling them all. I do agree they are worry-free as far as the leather staining or marking; however, the newer softer epi that LV currently produces, although having a softer look to it, tdoes wrinkle and crease especially along zippers. It really bothered me so much so on the speedy that I sold it. Just so you know of this issue, some people it drives crazy and others do not care.

So far I've only heard good things about Epi as far as a durability and maintenance is concerned. I also really like the texture of this range.
However, are you sure you want the get a black back and a black slg? In my opinion that's a very austere look. What kind of bag are you thinking about purchasing?

Here's a pic of my Epi Speedy 30 after more than ten months of use (not eight months as I wrote above) even in snow and pouring rain..

I loved my black Speedy so much that I used it to death over several years as it was one of my main work bags as it was so practical and easy care. I live in a very wet climate so vachetta can be difficult, the epi is great not to have to worry. I recently replaced my years old Speedy as it had become a little too scuffed for my liking at the bottom corners, not too bad, I am just really fussy. My niece is currently using it as I gave it to her and she will enjoy carrying it for many tears to come. I have a few other epi pieces, my Passy is one of my favourites and I used to carry it quite a bit to work before being a SAHM.
