Does anyone have an ering that is not a solitaire? I'm thinking a diamond band, like the "perfect murder" ring by Cathy Waterman, or some of the Tiffany celebration rings. My engagement is at least a year off and SO would strangle me if he knew I was researching rings, lol, but I like to be prepared! Lately I feel like a big solitaire would not be appropriate for my lifestyle as I ride the subway and I'm kind of paranoid, plus I worry that I would be uncomfortable with a ring that stuck up high off my hand. Also, I've seen some gorgeous band rings that I would be thrilled to wear, and the price point is a lot more reasonable since we are trying to save for a house so I don't want to ask for a really expensive ring. Any thoughts/photos??

This is the one I've really been loving lately- from Tiffany's. My only concern is that this would not stack well with a wedding band, and SO did mention once that he wants matching wedding bands (although he would probably not remember saying this if I brought it up again, that's just how he is lol). However, it is in the latest Tiffany promos (the "some style is legendary" ones) and it's stacked with a bunch of rings there, and it looks great so maybe it would work.

I'm not married or engaged, but if I do it one day, I really love the idea of a band that is stacked w/ a wedding band. Like a scattered stone band w/ a plain band or a decorative band w/ a plain or channel set band. I think it is a great idea- you could do something like this w/ a plain band (but I'd do half eternity if I were in your shoes, easier to size for fluctuations and more comfy, IMO).

Here's a pic of the Waterman ring too- I like this as well, but I think there is more possibility for damage w/ something that is more delicate too.

Hmm the Waterman ring is pretty, but I think you're right it's almost too delicate for everyday wear. I love the look of eternity/half eternity bands, they are so timeless! I'm concerned that if I get a band ring that's not an eternity, like the one I posted or the Waterman, it will not be as timeless as an eternity. They are all beautiful though.

mine isn't a solitaire or typical ering
it is a cluster of three rows of stones with one middle stone and I added a 5-stone or half-eternity as the band

i love that it is unique looking

if you do change your mind about the solitaire, you could always consider a bezel set solitaire. those sit pretty low and are really comfy

Ooh those are pretty!! The bezel is a little too modern for me, I like bezels with really thin bands but they're hard to find. The second one is gorgeous, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for. The third one, I love, but I'm worried that it would wrap too far around the sides of my fingers since I wear a 4.5 anyone have experience?

Jennifer Garner has these thin stacking bands that are GORGEOUS- one of them is pink diamonds in rose gold, and I think she sandwiches it in between white diamond bands. I'll see if I can find a photo.

I believe that the British erings are cluster rings in sapphire and ruby, and emerald. You can pick anything you want for your ring, you need to be happy! I had a sapphire ring I wore as my ering for 10 years. If you'd like a solitaire but are afraid of the subway, only wear a band ring there. If you don't want a high setting there are numerous ways to hae a stone set. I particularly like tiffany etoile setting with the matching band ring. Keep looking, you'll find the perfect ring! ;)

my original ER was a solitaire and i lost it. i replaced it 20 years ago with an anniversary type ring: 2 rows of diamonds covering only the top half of the ring finger.

This is gorgeous! Would make a great RHR for me, it might be a little too modern for my taste as an ER.
Bulgari tends to be a little to logo'ed for my taste, at least from what I've seen.

Grammyr, it's not just the subway, my style tends more toward delicate, intricate jewelry and I always seek out unique and distinctive pieces. I also have a very delicate build so I go for delicate jewelry, which is part of why I'm leaning towards a band. I also wouldn't want an e-ring, no matter how gorgeous it was, that I wasn't comfortable wearing every minute of every day, that's just how I feel about it. Luckily I have plenty of options.... and plenty of time to think about it!
