I rarely wear my e-ring. It is a round solitaire, knife edge, very classic setting, slightly under 2ct.

I am thinking of resetting it as a necklace, or a 2 stone ring. (Inspiration pics below!)

I am sure I would get more wear out of the necklace. Somehow I feel self conscious about wearing the ring to work, even though it’s not huge, it is super sparkly. I end up always just wearing my wedding ring alone, or nothing at all.

I am curious if anyone here has done a ring to necklace conversion, or e ring upgrade? On one hand I like the idea of wearing the jewellery more often, but on the other I feel I shouldn’t change the ring because of the memories and sentimental value.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Two stone: I like the round with a pear. Not sure if I would do an emerald or sapphire, or just keep it all diamonds.

I have a ring that was turned into a necklace. I see it being more of a trend now (at least the center stone I have makes mine look like one), but I think it would be pretty. I know those rings have become a trend now too, and I’m not sure how good it would look on a chain, but some stores carry that style now so if you ask a jeweler, if sure they’d be able to pull up samples and show you what it may look like as a necklace

I feel that this is a very personal choice of either changing the format of your diamond or keeping it as it is.

I personally don't mind changing my current e-ring to a necklace when I get an e-ring upgrade (spoken about it with my husband and he's totally cool with it), because I'd probably wear that necklace all the time and it would be a daily piece.

I do understand how an e-ring can be very attention grabbing. My e-ring is 1.54ct and I have small fingers so that it looks even bigger. Many people mistaken it for a 2ct. The first few weeks I wore it to work, it got a lot of attention. Mostly because I never really wore "large-ish" jewelry in the first place, but also, I think most people didn't really know my shopping habits and my taste for luxury haha (because I don't really wear flashy nice things to work, I even dislike wearing business casual, scrubs for life lol).
Even now, once a while it does catch people's eye at work. Though not in a jealous or envious way. More like a "wow!" way haha. It may be because I work in a setting where the majority of people are older than me, and most are probably more "well-established" than me, that it never really crossed their mind that someone with my appearance/attire could have something so nice. Despite having a higher position now, I am so casual at work that it probably throws people off a bit :P But I don't care if people stare or even judge, it's my ring lol.

Has you mentioned this to your husband? Does he have any thoughts/ideas?

I'd prefer to have that diamond as a ring. If you don't want to wear it to work, you could lock it up someplace and where it outside of work.
Of course, that's my opinion. If you want to change to a necklace, that's up to you but I feel like it would be almost a waste of that large sparkly stone.

When I got a new diamond ring for an anniversary, I eventually reset the original diamond in a pendant and gave it to our oldest daughter because I had other diamond pendants. So in your case, since you are just wanting something different than your solitaire, I'd reset it as a ring. I do think the 2 stone you showed is somewhat trendy right now, so I personally would reset as a three stone with side diamonds or sapphires. What I will tell you is that you should just wear your ring to work unless the environment makes it inappropriate to do so (such as working with people in poverty, for example). Most people won't notice your ring nor will they care (not to mention it's none of their business!). We upgraded my ring a couple of times, and after the first time absolutely not one person even noticed. Even if anyone does comment at first, it likely won't be brought up again.

I Love the toi et moi ring, It is sentimental and different in a good way.
However if you feel that the diamond is showy, two stones would make it twice as showy, imo.
Why are you really not wearing the ring?
I had a stone reset as a necklace and I wear it daily. It is so dirty from the soap, lotions ad the likes that it looks weird. I love it personally.

Thank you everyone!

In my mind, a coloured second stone kind of made it more “casual”. I don’t know, I tend to feel that RG/YG setting or coloured stones make pieces more everyday/casual. Although now several have pointed out it may make it more blingy which does not help

I do like the idea of the necklace more now, as @limom said, a beautiful stone but incognito.

I’m now thinking what to do. I did consider finding a matching stone making stud earrings with it but feel that would be not quite right for the e-ring to end up as half of a pair of earrings
