Hi Ladies,
Apologise if this has been covered before but I'm very curious about the price of engagement rings in US compared to over here in the UK.

I recently got engaged and I am delighted with my ring. While looking on these forums over the last few days I can't believe how small it is compared to all of your beauties. So it was making me wonder if you get a lot more for your money in the US or if it's simply that more money is spent on rings.

Let me share. My ring is a 0.56 solitare set in platinum. It is colour F and SI1. It cost approx £2700 which according to expedia converts to just over $4300. My fiance has a good job and could have afforded more as he has plenty savings and although I wouldn't have objected to more being spent we both felt that that was more than reasonable to spend on a ring.

My ring was bought from a trusted local jeweller and I feel we were given a fair price. So is this a lot more expensive than in the US?

Looking forward to reading your responses!
xx

Hate to tell you but about half the cost here in the States for a similar stone at blue Nile or union diamond or any local retail jeweler here in the US. If you go to Tiffany's here in the US you will be able to get a .50 carat in F in VS2 for a similar price to what you paid, but that's Tiffany and not a local retail jeweler! Most expensive GIA ( assuming yours is GIA certified?) I could find with your specs at Blue Nile or Union Diamond was $2000 USD. it's pretty widely acknowledged that diamond prices here in the States are less expensive than the UK but I'm sure you will get lots of opinions to come. IMO As long as you love your ering and it sounds like you do, then don't worry about it, you seem happy with the price you paid and thats all that matters.congratulations on your engagment! Post some pics so we can all see!

I am no expert in diamond prices, but I do feel that diamond pricing in the US is lesser than in Asia (where I am from). In my country, you hardly find ladies wearing diamond ring above 1 carat cos it is really expensive here.
