That would be giving him too much credit.
I hope he isn’t pawning this off as original ideas because clearly he watches a lot of sci fi.
Hell to the f**kin no to all of these stupid designs. No one needs this cr*p. How about putting all this energy and money into curing one of any number of diseases/illnesses that currently aren't curable or to help fix climate change. Something that would actually benefit the world and the people on it.
Focusing on the man is what this thread is about, which I’ll refrain from speaking of, as I don’t want to get my post reported however,
Speaking of the “products” itself, IF there can be a Waymo like vehicle (don’t really care how it looks) that can be $1/mile, I would love it.
Everything aside, teslas have the most data based on how long they’ve been doing it, how many vehicles on the road, etc.
I’ve done a cost comparison between uber and waymo and it’s about about the same, $30-40 easily that would under the robotaxi, cost less than $10.
I still haven’t used waymo because I want to support people who are grinding by wearing multiple hats including driving ride share. If I’m giving free food (not even leftovers but untouched, sealed food I myself would eat) to those down on their luck, I’m going to pick a human driver over the cool robo taxi 99% of the time (I mean, it would be cool to try one out).
However for those who need to get around cheaper, and do not have the privilege to live in a city with good (for them I guess it would be amazing) public transportation, I can see robo taxi providing value.
The man behind the company aside, which, all I can say is, I didn’t know a man his age can still sub as a cheerleader.

Tesla's vehicles only use cameras and radar. They doesn't use Lidar. I think that they did for awhile, but decided it was too expensive. Lidar is a technology that can measure objects and obstacles with high precision, and can improve the safety and performance of self-driving cars. My son has worked on self-driving cars for a different company and also worked for Elon at a different tech company. He's the one who explained it all to me.
And I was in the big mass of cars stopped on the highway near Mountain when the "accident" which killed Walter Huang in Model X happened. He was driving with autopilot and playing a video game. I saw the burned out car with parts of the battery pack still sparking on the ground. I'd never buy a Tesla. Here's an article about that accident. Tesla crash

It blows my mind how many people trust the self-driving technology. And a crash in a Tesla isn’t the same as a gas car. Those batteries buuuuuuurn!
Since you’re in the Bay Area you probably remember Parma Sharma who lived for Elon’s self-driving technology is the worst possible way. Get busted, car would get impounded, he’d just go buy another, repeat… He’s been quiet on social media so maybe all of the arrests finally made a difference.
But these Elon worshippers are part of the problem.

He didn’t buy this home for his kids and baby mamas. If he did the title would be in their names. He bought this mansion for himself to make his life easier. If all of his kids and baby mamas were in one place it makes life easier on him on the rare occasion that he wants to see them. And knowing him that home will have 24/7 surveillance this will allow him to know what’s going on without actually being there. Just a way for him to exert control over his exes and kids.
