Elevated (New!) Mom Bag - LV Speedy B DE 30 vs Celine Mini Belt Bag?

Hi! I’m due with my first baby at the end of the month and DH is gifting me a new bag as my push present, yay!

I have a diaper bag but I also want to have a designer larger purse that I can carry my things and a few baby things. Requirements are top handle (my fave way to wear my bags) with option for shoulder/crossbody wear. I’m not interested in a tote - I have the NF but want something that is more secure with a zipper.

I’m torn between speedy b DE or the Celine micro belt bag! Which would be a better elevated mom bag? Both are so beautiful, I can’t decide!

If it’s at all helpful, I just had my first in April, and I’ve used both of these bags since. The speedy, in my experience, is SO much easier to get in and out of when you have baby with you! The belt bag’s closure requires some maneuvering, and I ended up getting frustrated by it multiple times while out with baby. I found the speedy is also just a bit easier to carry baby items (the 30 has enough room to stick a couple burp cloths/diapers/pacifiers) if you do want to go out super briefly with just your bag and not the whole diaper bag.

I am not a fan of Celine and I use speedy 35 as my baby bag. Now I don’t need baby bag anymore, my speedy 35 is my travel bag. Good luck on deciding.

I am a huge Celine fan and LV fan, for baby bag, I would say LV speedy B 30. I have the Celine micro belt bag, it’s a heavy bag empty and fully loaded with baby supplies I would imagine it would be really heavy! I’ve also owned the speedy b30 and it’s lightweight and fully loaded the weight is manageable and the strap is thick enough that wearing cross body is pretty comfortable. The strap on the micro belt can be uncomfortable carry crossbody. Lastly the opening on the belt bag can be fussy versus the opening on the speedy.

Both are great bags. Aesthetic wise, I do think the belt bag is a prettier bag, but for function for baby bag, I would pick the speedy

Thank you! I love both Celine & LV too, and also agree that aesthetically the belt bag is prettier. But at the end of the day, with a baby, it’s function over fashion! It sounds like speedy fits more and is more carefree. Maybe I’ll get LV for baby bag and later down the line a smaller belt bag for non-baby occasions.

I have a regular speedy (not b) in mono that I hadn’t used for a while, but find myself gravitating towards it pregnant since I’m always hungry & thirsty and it has room for food & water with room to spare! I don’t mind just the top handle but that’ll definitely become an issue when baby is here!

Congratulations!! I voted speedy b 30! I use the speedy b 25 and I have 3 littles: 2 month old, 2 year old and 4 year old. If I’m just with my older ones I can throw in a toy or snack and even a water bottle. I mostly use it for my mom bag with my baby though. It’s been perfect and I’m so happy with it! I bet the 30 is an even better mom bag!
