So I unfortunately was careless and somehow got ink stain onto my ostrich calvi! I tried using all kinds of leather cleaner and the color started to come off. I am going to get in touch with my SA and see what her recommendations would be, but prob needs to be taken in. I was thinking of trying to purchase some kind of leather color polish and hopefully it would cover up the ink stain but i am assuming not! Sad this happened but it was bound to happen some time! Ugh and ouch!

This happened to me several years ago when Claude was the craftsman at H in NYC.
Most likely your ink mark will not come out so don't be disappointed when you bring it to
your local H.. & not sure if this can be re-colored..sorry this happened to you..

Go to H. If they cannot help, there are options in the H leather care threads if you do a search (the products used to remove hair color from skin were suggested), and sometimes even a regular leather wipe can take out much of the ink (it is a long and careful process, but I have done it) but I wouldn't touch this stain further til H has had a chance. They may not accept it, but it's a pretty piece and worth trying.

Sorry that this happened to your Calvi. I hope that H would be able to "fix" the problem. I remember that an SA told me before that I should be extra careful with pens and hand sanitizers. I don't know how true but she said that once the hand sanitizer soaks your leather---they cannot fix the problem!

Sorry, but this is kind of off topic. Can I ask if anyone has ever used Bickmore's Exotic spray on their exotic skin items? I got caught in the rain and now there are water marks on my alligator bag (not H lol) I was told there is nothing I can do about it (from the brand that I got the bag from), but I would love it if I could get rid of the water marks. However, I am also very nervous about ruining the bag if I tried using it.

Hope they're able to get rid of the ink stains on your calvi, OP! It's beautiful (even w/ the bit of stains)!

Thank you!

I am sorry to hear about your ink stains. I hope you take it to H to see if an artisan can fix or improve on the condition. Five years ago I had similar situation. The head of a pen hit my new Kelly wallet. Guess where that pen landed ... smack middle under the straps on the front. :wtf: I took a q-tip with tiny tiny bit of water on the tip. Gently worked it on the ink spot. Saw that the q-tip had a little blue ink on it. Thinking ... Oh maybe if I put a tiny bit of hand sanitizer on the tip I can work that area too. Oh yes it got more of the blue ink off to a point it started looking good ... DO NOT DO THIS! As it dried, I noticed the color of the leather was slightly faded where I had worked. :crybaby: FULL STOP ... AGAIN DO NOT DO THIS! I ran to H panicked. No promises anything could be done but it was sent to an artisan. Months later I was told my wallet was back. I went to pick it up. To much shock I could not find where the ink had been and no sign of the faded color. I felt it was a miracle. LESSONS LEARNED ... DO NOT do anything especially with hand sanitizer ... Immediately take it to H for help.

Thank you for your experience! I am hoping for the best! I sent it in to H for their expertise recommendation and am awaiting but it is the holiday season so their prob busy! Thank you!

I just wanted to update you all my Hermes spa treatment on my yellow ostrich calvi.

The turn around was pretty well timed as it is the holidays and i know they must be busy.

I am quite pleased with the results and can not ask for perfection as i have damaged the leather by cleaning it harshly. It is what it is and a lesson learned.

Lessons i learned is:
1) do NOT hold exotic leathers in your hand when dealing with using a pen!

2) do NOT hold exotic leathers in your hand when holding onto thermal or receipt papers in general!

3) do NOT hold exotic leathers in your hand when waiting or receiving stamp cards!

4) put exotic leathers back into carrying pouch and place all above in or somewhere else where it will not contact exotic leathers!

5) do NOT attempt to clean exotic leathers unless there is experience done with them prior!

Here are some after pics! Thanks

They did a great job. Thanks for the tips too. Yes, I agree with the receipts-thermal paper. Very careful of them. If you put it on a leather surface (car, bag, wallet, etc.), the print on the paper can smudge onto the leather..especially if it's light-colored.
