Does anyone have both and can tell me what the 'real' difference is (as opposed to the m.com length difference)? If i want cross body and hands free should I go with the large edie or the regular Alexa (I already have one of these in my possession but am having post-purchase anxiety).

The size of the two has been much discussed but not necessarily the strap length and the cross body potential.

Thanks, Han x

I tried the Edie on just this evening, but it was the regular size. The strap was nowhere near as long as the Alexa, which I find easily works across body - it is most definitely a shoulder bag imo (but it was sooo gorgeous, I love the guitar style strap)

I have O/S and reg Alexas and the large Edie. I can quite easily wear all my Alexas cross body and sometimes find the straps too long but I do find the strap on the Edie too short to wear cross body. I am about 5' 3".
There always seems to be a bit of difference of opinion on this and I think that it depends on where you like your bag to sit when you wear it cross body.
The actual length of the strap on my large Edie is 107cm which includes the hardware on the strap, not the loops on the bag.

I have the small powder beige edie with the small shoulder strap as opposed to the guitar strap and te o/s alexa and I find the edieuch easier to carry crossbody. I find the strap on alexa way too long. I'm just about 5ft!

I think my height (5'8) might be the problem, in addition to not particularly small @@s!

I really want at least the option to wear it cross body, mainly for summer holidays, and I think if I don't get the Alexa I might regret it and end up getting one in the future. I love the leather on my Edie though - not such a fan of the buffalo leather.

In that case, Alexa it is!

Thanks - I love definitive answers - I'm so indecisive! I love the Edie but I can't afford both. Off to CO later to see if I can get a black Alexa from there, and will make a decision based on that. Otherwise it'll be a big jump from the £512 I paid for the large Edie to £785 for a full price Alexa (I get student discount chez CO)

Good luck I hope you manage to find one! The shorter strap on the Edie is what has put me off buying one in the past (sadly because I love this bag ), I'm 5'7'' and when I've tried them on the strap is just too short for me to wear cross body and the bag sits very high up, the Alexa sits much better on me.

Maybe we have long bodies and short legs whereas you have super long legs?! Or I'm just fat. How weird. I'm going to CO at lunch and will post modelling pics of both later, but even DH who never has an opinion on anything said it sat too high up. I love that bag, half of me hopes the alexa is as bad!!

I don't have Edie to compare, but this morning I wore my new pumpkin Alexa cross-body on the way to work and the strap length was perfect. This was a bit of a surprise because most "crossbody" straps are too short for me and I end up wearing them as shoulder bags. I'm medium-tall (5'7") and I am not petite (size 16) so the strap has to fit around some uh...sizeable real estate -- plus, I like a crossbody bag to sit low at the hip in a casual sort of way. Alexa's long strap does both.
