Hello all! I have a quick question regarding the closure/clasp of the ecrou bracelet. If this has been answered already in the forum, I apologize! I did some searches and came up empty.

I'm fascinated by the design of the Ecrou, and know the bracelet releases and closes inside one of the end bolts. For those who wear theirs regularly, especially with other bracelets, does yours ever spring open unintentionally? I've read a few posts how the closure is secure to some, just wondering if anyone had issues with the Ecrou. I have 2 Loves, and had to use the thread lock glue to keep them from loosening the screws (thanks PF!). Now they are rock-solid, but a bracelet that sprung open would drive me insane. What to you think? Anyone have issues with their Ecrou? Before I try one on in the store, I'd love to know real-world experience. Bc to me, try-ons in a store are just a sneak peak. Everyday wear is the real deal

Well, I own an ecrou and it's not as loose fit as a love bracelet, supposedly due to the bolt design. Therefore, occasionally (let's say one in 10 times of wear) it will pop open and catch me off guard. The good thing is that it wont fall off like a love or juste un clou, because the hinge is a bit tight so it won't be wide open, and it won't slip through your wrist.

Thanks for your reply! I kind of wondered if it would pop open, especially if worn with something heavy like a watch or regular Loves

I think it's fine with stacking, it won't open because it's constantly clashing with other bracelets. in my experience, it pops open because my wrist accidentally presses on the release button. I guess going with a looser fit would be better?

I have 2 of the Ecrou, and one of them has the tendency to pop open if worn closer to the forearm for a tighter fit. The lock is quite "short" so a sustained force pushing "outwards" from the arm, (especially if pressing on the pinch-unlock mechanism) may cause it to unlock, though the bracelet will not just fall off as the hinge is tight.

I've been wearing it closer to my wrist (looser fit) and there has been no issues since.

Never had issues with my Ecrou and this is my most favourite bracelet from all the Cartier.
Although I am quite careful when I wear my jewellery. I would say if you really hit the clasping mechanism, it will open of course - nothing is 100% secure. But I would say it is quite safe and secure.
