some of you may have seen my post that I recently got an ebene b25 ghw. I was so excited about the bag (b25 ghw) but honestly was unsure of the color as it was not something originally on my radar. I don’t know why I didn’t ask to take the day to think about it, but I didn’t. I find myself now questioning the color and if I’ll get any use out of it. I have a gold Kelly that I find goes with everything - I originally always hated the color until I was offered my Kelly - and now I wear it with everything. I find ebene harder to match.

Can I get your opinions on the color? I know I’ll be the one wearing it but I am on the fence. Is this more of a fall winter color? What do I wear this with?

It’s beautiful. It remind of etoupe and Etan mix. Very neutral. You can use it for all seasons, very neutral.

I own 3 bags in Ébène and I am not a brown lover at all (gravitate towards black or jewel tones). I find it goes with cool and warm tones but my bags come with palladium hardware so Ébène appears a bit cooler. I feel it is a wonderful colour that can dress up and down and is quite classy.

Like any brown color bag, it is very neutral and doesn't clash with most of the colors, maybe except some in the grey family IMO. The only concern is that it's a warmer color, so depending on where you live, you may find it too dark for most of the seasons. But many of us carry black colored bags all year round, so as long as you are happy, you can carry ebene in during summer as well. Personally I am not inclined toward any brown color bag, just like I am not into brown color clothing, it's more a personal preference, not a logical decision. So maybe to you it's a question of preference, not versatility of the color?

Ebene is a beautiful neutral and I think it can be worn all year round. In spring and summer you can pair it with all white or light beige/sand toned outfit combinations. You can also wear it casually with light blue jeans and a white t-shirt. So many styling options!

I have two ebene bags and one (very close) marron fonce. I find them to be excellent dark neutrals as under certain lighting, they can even pass as black. Your B25 is small enough for such a colour not to overwhelm your wardrobe choice. Pair her with tone-on-tone twillys for that dark neutral look or contrasting coloured twillys to provide that pop of colour or to match your whatever you're wearing that day! Enjoy wearing her in good health!

It depends on your wardrobe and where you live. If your wardrobe is lighter and brighter, or you live in a hot or tropical climate, ébène may not fit well within your wardrobe. If your wardrobe is more on the black, grey, navy, brown tones, or you live in a four season climate, ébène will work very nicely. Nonetheless it is a nice bag!

I love ebene. I have a Victoria 35 and a barenia picotin PM.

ebene with navy is a classic sartorial combo (and there are many h scarves if you feel the need to tie this together)

ebene with black IMO is more of a fashion thing. (Ebene can act almost like a dark neutral pop of color)

ebene is also nice with olives, forest colors, beige, taupe, gold, or leopard

in the winter, I like ebene with light or charcoal gray, or dark gunmetal

in the summer with taupe or white, and silver

I wear a lot of ash colored neutral, so ebene is a no brainer, but it also goes with brights like orange (There are many H scarves in this palette)

a few recent outfits that would go with ebene (dior fall 2021 leopard jacket; spring 2022 navy cavalry twill skirt; vintage from my own closet chanel 2002 boucle jacket; 2021 brunello fringe skirt; vintage from my own closet 2004 chanel boucle skirt) The second outfit has a bronze, brown, black cropped mock turtleneck top from wolford


i personally find marron fonce even more versatile bc of that gorgeous cool blue purple undertone, but sadly I rehomed my marron fonce fjord paris Bombay

Ditto! Love my Ebene B. One of the most interesting, useful colors ever. Gorgeous even in summer with crisp white pants and beige/neutral/brown or even orange sandals.

My three ebène bags (B30 GHW, Evelyne PM Barenia, and BV mini Cabat) are by far my most used bags for everyday in fall/winter. Ebène is far more versatile for me than black, which I tend to use for more formal occasions or when traveling.
