E boutique question
Hi!
I just contacted eBay seller eboutique to discuss about payment and I was informed that they only accept partial ($2000) amount through paypal and remaining must be made by bank wire. Has anyone dealt with them before? Is it safe to pay that way? Seems like many sellers say they accept paypal on their listing then demand bank wire. I don't know if I should do that?
Thanks,

Above is a question i asked in another thread. I apologize if i'm not allowed to do that. I really need some advice on this- I tried searching it but couldn't find answer.

Did you ask this question directly of the seller?? Or of any of the sellers you've been in contact with over the last couple of weeks? I'm sure they have an answer.

There are a number of possibilities -- very high fees that sellers must pay for P*ypal transactions, vulnerability to scammers, caps on P*ypal transactions, etc.

IMO, you don't seem to be genuinely comfortable with the idea of buying from a reseller. For your own peace of mind, perhaps you should focus your efforts on obtaining a bag direct thru a boutique...

I've contact many "Top rated sellers" on ebay but really, most of them were asking either off ebay Paypal transaction or bank wire- I don't understand. Is it the way buyers usually pay for their birkins on ebay?

I always offer paypal echeck to seller- which would save them $ anyway. But they insist ebay fee is too high. I thought ebay final value fee costs only around $50- please correct me if i'm wrong

PayPal also charges fees which I think are approximately 3% of the amount. It is a fee for using their service. My guess is your seller is trying to avoid these fees, not the Ebay final value fee.

good post!

Cestsibon - most of your posts seem to express concern about resellers, whether they are legit, whilst the bags you are looking at are all above retail. not sure why you would put yourself through the anxiety of a non-boutique purchase? no one here can guarantee the safety of $10-15K of your money even if they have had good interaction and the reseller is reputable. ITA with the lovely graycat, build a relationship with a boutique and go that route.

It is obvious that most resellers use ebay as a window and sell privately as often as they can..... otherwise they all would have many more feedbacks ....

My 0.02

Well, I can tell you that I've purchased a couple of times via wire transfer. And yes, the first time I was more than a bit nervous. This why you MUST deal with a reputable seller.

As for eB*y and P*ypal, over the last few years they're made some changes that definitely favor buyers and put sellers at sizable risk. Especially if they're selling things like H bags, which are $$$ and a magnet for scammers and fraudulent activity.

Re final selling costs - total fees on an H bag would be WAY in excess of $50...

I understand that I could try Hermes store for peace of mind purchase- but as you know, it's nearly impossible to get a birkin from the store if you live far- I just want to see what other people have experienced with off paypal transaction from reputable reseller. I'm not asking you to "guarantee" if seller is legit. I am sure they sell authentic bags but i'm not mostly concerned is the protection- what if the item gets lost or they can't prove the payment i sent? It's my first time trying buy Birkin from online sellers- please excuse me if my posts sound annoying here.Thank you for your kind advices!

This seems very odd to me. I've never heard of $2,000 via PayPal and the rest Bank Wire. Last I had heard it was not even permitted for sellers to refuse Paypal and require Bank wire? I can tell you I've purchased from eBoutique a while back, but this is when Eric Rogers was there. I dealt directly with him. He is now at Uber-Luxe and I don't know who would be in charge at eBoutique any more. I would take the advice that others have given and go straight to a Company Boutique or find a reseller who can offer you FULL services of eBay and Paypal! Good luck

if item is fake, ebay and/or paypal will make you prove it. if you do transaction off ebay, through paypal you are protected only if item not received. if you do a transaction off ebay, and off paypal/partial paypal and without a credit card you will have no protection. simple as that. if you are not comfortable, don't do it.

i think you posted the same questions on the ebay forum. that is the place for this type of discussion. the ladies there are experts.

your posts are not annoying, it is just that again, no one can make you comfortable with something you clearly are not comfortable doing. this is a lot of money. you may want to think about why you want a birkin so badly. can you afford to lose the money? do you have the time to deal with the stress if something goes wrong? if no, be patient, find one at a boutique.... for the premium you seem willing to pay, you also could consider trip to paris

I think I speak on behalf of all the ladies here when I say I wish you "The best of luck" with your purchase. tPF is a place where we all join together because we all have the H bug!! he he! I've learned over the years to go with my gut feeling where Hermes is concerned. This includes resellers, etc. It seems that you are hesitant. Why not wait it out for a store to come thru or at the very least try to track down a reseller on eBay who will allow you to purchase on eBay and pay via Paypal?
