Hello all,
Just found out that my DH and I might be moving to UAE (United Arab Emirates). I'd like to hear from anyone who lives there/has lived there, regarding:
1. Are there a lot of sellers who will ship to UAE?
2. I have a TRS and PS account on eBay. Will buyers be as willing to buy from me as they are right now (I'm currently in the US) ?
3. What about buyer and seller protection? Any experience with these? (wondering if the rules are different, i.e. for SNAD claims, etc.)

Thanks so much!

ETA:
How reliable is the postal service there?

It may be easier for you to have items sent to someone in the US and then have that person send you your items. However you may not be able to deal with issues as easiy if the item is SNAD, etc. As discussed in other threads, I would just ask the seller and see what they say. Honestly how many items do you really plan on buying that this might be a major issue for you?

I think you might have trouble getting anyone to ship there. However, ebay now has the global shipping program, where sellers are just responsible for getting the package to New York, so if you can use that, you might be able to get packages.

I don't think many buyers will feel comfortable buying from a seller in the UAE if there is a comparable product available from a US seller. Just the fact that it will take much longer to get a package is a deterrent. It will cost you more to ship. There are customs issues. I think you would be successful only if you sell things that are unique to the Middle East. I used to live in Saudi Arabia. (It was a long time ago before anyone had ever heard of ebay.) If I still lived there, I would sell camel blankets and brass coffee pots and hookah pipes.

When we moved back to the states, some of our stuff that was shipped didn't make it back.

I have had over 700 transactions via eBay over the last two years (buying and selling); I certainly don't plan to just stop- at least not the buying part :)
