I have a return (SNAD). The item was shipped by the seller (UK) using the Global Shipping Program. How am I suppose to return this? I was reading through some of the eBay community that the buyer has to pp me the money for the return label. Is that correct? This is my 1st international purchase and of course there has to be a problem. :annoyed: I have notified the seller that I want to return & seller has agreed. Thanks for the help

Thank you! I am trying to understand if the seller can send me a pre-paid return label or do I the buyer have to purchase the label even though this is a SNAD.
I've heard in the past that ebay doesn't have the ability to generate an international label. The seller may not be able to purchase a USPS label from outside the US. According to the stuff posted by @thewildraven it looks like ebay has to be involved in order to refund the international shipping costs. If you haven't opened a return request, I believe you are going to have to in order for the label to be generated. Tell the seller this, then open it. Then she can approve it, and that should generate the label.

I am having this same issue right now except the item I need to return is from Japan. I opened a return request and the seller accepted. The seller then sent me separate email saying they could not generate a return label. I called eBay and the lady told me that they have to provide a label. She told me to wait until the allotted time has passed (for eBay to get involved) then call back and they would provide me with a label. OR she said I would be allowed to keep the bag and get a refund if the seller does not provide a label at that time ( not too confident in this). She said that sellers are required to provide return labels. I would open a refund request and go from there. I learned from my last experience where the seller claimed she could not generate a return label, told me to mail the item back, take a picture of my receipt and she would reimburse me. However when she got the item back she claimed I spent too much on shipping and did not want to refund shipping. I called Ebay and they were able to refund my shipping!!!

This sounds like a pain in the a**! It looks like shipping it back to the UK is expensive from what I see on USPS. I think I will attempt this tomorrow morning. I did contact seller and they agreed to the return.

I would be interested to know how you both got on?

I'm looking at it from the opposite perspective of a private seller. I've used the Global shipping programme in the past without any problems but only for lower value items. I'm concerned as I've sold an expensive handbag and I need to post it from U.K. to Singapore. I believe the GSP insurance is covering it up to £2000 for loss or damage which takes care of that aspect. I don't take returns but there are so many occasions now where the eBay "item not as described" is abused and sellers don't have a leg to stand on. (I'm not suggesting that applies to either of your cases, there are obviously loads of genuine returns, I've used them myself!) ..........I just don't want to end up hugely out of pocket and pay shipping and insurance cost for a return when a buyer has changed their mind.
I know that sounds negative but the buyer is already asking loads of questions after she has purchased and in my experience that's not good especially on such a high value item!
I hadn't intended to open the sale up internationally, my bad I know but I didn't realise my listings automatically used the GSP as default. That's something I've rectified as in my experience it's just not worth the hassle.

I'd let eBay step in to deal with the return label to be honest. I had a situation recently that was UK to UK but I got a message saying seller couldn't generate return label. Seller asked me to post it anyway and she would PP me the money. She never did. Approached ebay who told me, as a courtesy, they would refund the shipping but they never have.

Glad to say my dilemma has gone away and the buyer has asked me to cancel the sale. Why do some bidders have the nerve to do that and expect to get away with not receiving an unpaid item strike? I think it was just a scam to get the receipt, I've had them stolen before along with my photos..........once bitten twice shy!

If anyone does sell using the GSP It would seem that insurance cover is up to £2000 for lost or damaged items. I expect there are exclusions but I can't find a list.
If your buyer asks you for a refund, you’re only expected to refund the cost of the item and what you charged for domestic postage.
Unfortunately eBay state return postage costs have to be sorted directly with the buyer so I'm sure that would get messy for a goods not as described case.

I don't think it's worth the risk with expensive items to sell to international buyers through the GSP. I'll make sure that box isn't ticked next time!
