Authenticators and Fellow Purse Lovers,

I simply need advice. I have wanted a Chanel for the longest and wouldn't mind getting a used one. Ebay has sooo many beautiful Chanel bags for sale but you can never tell if they are authentic. I recently purchased a Gucci Indy on Ebay and what do you know--- its fake!! AHHH! Thanks to the ladies on this site I have realized what to do now. But lets be honest, now I want nothing to do with Ebay considering that it is such a bother trying to figure out if a bag is fake or not!

So just wondering-- can you really get good deals on AUTHENTIC Chanel bags on Ebay or am I better off just giving up on Ebay all together? I would really like to hear some suggestions or personal thoughts!

Thanks in advance!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I have found good deals on ebay and I know that many other members have as well. But you have to be safe about buying on ebay. Try checking out the ebay forum...for advice on purchasing safely. Be sure to always pay using your Credit Card on Paypal and check the seller out on toolhaus.org (to check negative feedback, etc)

Also you can post auction links on "authenticate this" thread for the appropriate brand. Just be sure to check the first post for posting instructions! I have used the authenticate this threads many times and the ladies are very friendly and helpful!

I am an Ebay fan and so far (touch wood) I have only pleasant experiences. I think you need to seriously consider what sellers you are buying from but ALWAYS authenticate here before purchasing ANY designer purses. Better to be safe than sorry. Even if the seller is a powerseller and has great positive feedbacks- STILL, have the bags authenticated first.

There are several other websites which sells authentic chanels such as Ann's Fabulous Finds and Luxury-shops.com (just on the top of my mind...). However, Ebay probably has the most variety and if you get lucky, several Chanels were sold at a very attractive price.

Good Luck in your search and keep us posted on your new great find(s)!

Always get it authenticated first on the Authenticate this Chanel (or whatever your brand is) threads. Ebay is full of scammers but there are legit sellers out there. Do your homework and good luck.

All these girls have great suggestions!

Just remember- no matter how fabulous the deal is- No Pics=No Buy.
There are sellers posting stolen photos of authentic bags, so do your research! When in doubt...ask a PFer!
As others said before- when using PayPal always use a credit card so that in the event that PayPal falls through you can file a chargeback!

Good luck!

Check out the Chanel on MALLERIES also.

READ the ebay thread here about the Chanel Scammer on ebay from the UK. Stay away from him.

Always authenticate... b4 purchase and after receipt.

I have bought from ebay with various degrees of success - and failure. Now I no longer bother as its just way too much effort. The worse experience I had was a FAKE CHANEL sweater, would you believe it from a seller in TEXAS. I still have her details - had the item authenticated officially, which was a pain in the neck, as it was an obvious fake. Yet pay pal never gave me a refund on a technicality. By the way it was a POWERSELLER with 100% positive feedback. I was the only person that gave a negative, yet ALL HER ITEMS were fake. On the other hand, I bought a lovely authentic CHANEL bag from a UK seller which was a steal, I think she just wanted a quick sale. But all in all - ebay is just not worth it for me, I'd rather pay a couple of hundred more and have a pleasant experience!:graucho:

Interesting. Hope you can post that fake Chanel seller's ebay name so we can all avoid?
