Earrings - Mop? Carnelian?

Hi all, I’m looking to inject some VCA into my life this year. I’m interested in Alhambra vintage earrings in MOP, carnelian or maybe malachite. Eventually I’d like to get a matching 5 motif bracelet.

The only thing was I remember feeling underwhelmed with the bracelet when trying on the MOP and onyx bracelet in store last year. Surprisingly it was the carnelian I was drawn to the most. I’m not sure if the earrings would be different since it’s on the ear..

I think I’d prefer the MOP just because of versatility but carnelian/malachite would be so pretty. I feel sheen from pearl earrings may give a similar feel to MOP so wondering if I should add a pop of color with a different stone. I wear a lot of black, grey, browns. I would love to try on all 3 and will try them on in store if they have stock.

For those of you that have these stones, which stone do you find you enjoy wearing the most? Do you have any regrets? Posting me trying on the two bracelets and Inspo pics for what made me want to get the earrings instead. sourced from Paige and Sophie on IG.

I have all the aforementioned stones and the one that gets the most attention and compliments is Carnelian. I'm personally not a huge fan of red and the only reason why I even purchased the earrings and pendant is because red is such a lucky color in my culture. Much to my surprise, carnelian seems to be a crowd favorite.
I don't have the Malachite earrings but I do own the pendant and it is absolutely gorgeous! The 2 stones that are the easiest to wear is the MOP and Onyx. I wear those two with everything (casual, dressy and to work).

I think mother of pearl would be better for ears, because they have more contrast when your hair is down. The white pops more in a shadow.

Also, MOP for earrings isn’t as likely to get damaged, unlike when it’s on a bracelet for instance, so I wouldn’t be concerned about maintenance. I don’t mind carnelian earrings, but I think it photographs less well on the ears. The color appears less vibrant in the shadow, and especially at a distance, there’s less contrast.

My vote is Carnelian for the pop of colour, hands down.

I really think it's personal preference. When I went to try on various pieces of vca I was really drawn to how malachite and the mop/chalcedony 6 motif looked on the tray. I tried them on and they fell totally flat on me.
However, onyx, carnelian, tiger eye and guilloche all pop and look so vibrant on me.
Try them on you might be surprised.

Try them on if you can, because the colours can work very differently depending on your skin tone and you might end up surprised! VA earrings are also quite hard to come by nowadays so availability plays a huge part.

I went into the store set on, and looking for VA MOP earrings but they only had tiger eye in stock and it REALLLLY worked on my skin tone. Also tried VA carnelian (I own the carnelian sweet earrings + bracelet and love both), but found that the shade was just too dark to look good on me. YMMV a lot with carnelian especially in VA (for sweets it doesn't matter as much because the motif is smaller)

I saw your recent post with the TE earrings. They look so striking on you! Goes wonderfully with your skin tone. If they have it, I plan to try it on! Btw What does YMMV mean?

Nobody asked but I ended up getting MOP vintage earrings after trying on carnelian and MOP! With my hair and skin coloring, carnelian just wasn’t a match - at least not for earrings.

I did try holding up a malachite pendant and loved that too. Planning on MOP bracelet later but now I want malachite too. This VCA slope is slippery indeed.
