The screwbacks for my diamond studs keep falling off. I don't take my diamond studs off...so is this normal that they keep unscrewing and falling off? With gold prices where they are, it's getting expensive replacing screwbacks when they're $26-ish a pop. Any suggestions?

Not really sure why. I have diamond studs hubby bought me about 20 years ago with screw on backs. I only had this happen 1 time. What I do is check to make sure they are on securely every once in a while. Other than that I think the screw on backs are great.

I check my screwbacks daily. Could it be my trapper hat? I've been wearing it everyday and I take it on/off several times a day. Maybe the flaps are twisting the earrings? It's not just annoying anymore, it's getting pricey.

My left side comes undone, and the right doesn't. I check them without even thinking about it. I think they can loosen over time (the actual back loosens, not off of the screw) does that make any sense?

I had my daughters reset into posts that the backs have to be squeezed to be put on and taken off. They never come loose.

How many times have you paid to have this fixed? Yes, they do need to be repaired once in a blue moon due to wear, but if you are saying to yourself it is happening too often you need to really look into this. You may want them to remove just your old posts and put a new set on with new backs. It won't cost that much as you are not replacing the whole setting.

^^squeeze on/off is called a 'pochette' back. They're small disk type backs. You will need to have your posts replaced though - they do not work with a screw on/off post.

I'd recommend possibly longer screwback posts. Mine are fairly long and it would take a whole lot of something for them to come undone. Previously I had shorter posts but I didn't like how thick they were.
