I am considering asking my husband about resetting my e ring but am concerned about how he would feel. We have been married 13 years now and the ring was picked out by him 14 yrs. ago. My current e ring is gorgeous and I love it, but am really craving a change. My ring is a 1.02 carat princess cut w/plat prongs on a WG gold setting with 2 small side diamonds and filigree/milgrain detail (similar to Tacori styles). I think I would like to reset in a setting that is rose gold or has rose gold accents such as these below. 1st pic is my current set. Others are settings I am considering. Everyone should love their ring but I have to say yours is beautiful. I like it better than any of the options you posted. What about getting a rose gold band to go on top?

Only you can say how your husband will react.

Thank you! I do love my current ring. I am craving some rose gold and you are right, maybe a band with some milgrain or filigree on top would be just what I need.

I think he would be fine with it. It is memorable what you have but it’s been 13 years. It’s not like you want another diamond, you just want something a little different. How about have him help you pick out the next setting? That way he feels included.

I think your ring is gorgeous! And so is the wedding band. Have you gotten it cleaned and polished? Sometimes that's all that's necessary to make you see it in a different way and feel like you have a new ring. I think a companion band with a little rose gold would offer a nice change.

I actually like your original setting best. It has something of an Art Deco look, which is very much in vogue these days. Of the new options you showed, I prefer the first, but still don't like it as much as your original. I would think carefully about the halo setting...I know it still has lots of fans but others feel it's jumped the shark as an e-ring style.

IMO, you could update your ring by having your bezel-set side stones reset in bezel-set rose gold. And to satisfy your rose gold craving (which I love too), maybe get a cocktail type ring set in rose and white gold for your other hand?

I like the idea of including him. I just feel the need for a change but I love my diamond.

Thank you for your compliments :). I do admire my ring often, I guess feel I need a change. I think I am going to explore Rose gold bands with some filigree or Art Deco detail to go with my current set.

Thank you! I do love the Art Deco details on my ring. I just feel the need for a bit of an update. The 1st setting with rose gold prongs is my favorite for sure. I had not thought of changing my current setting a bit by adding some rose gold :). Also am thinking maybe adding a rose gold band to my set might be all I need to satisfy my craving for something new.

What do you think of this band but in Rose gold? It is a Tacori band, plain polished gold with the crescent detail and milgrain on the sides. I thought this may look good with my current set since it has a Art Deco feel. Thoughts?

I like the idea of stacking with one or two other bands. Might give your beautiful set a new look without committing to a redesign. That said, I have been married 20 years and have reset my stone more than once.

Dont reset it. Just buy a new one. It would be nice to pass this on to your daughters one day. You can say "this was my first ring from your dad" im sure they would like to preserve your original ring. If theres no damage then pls dont reset it. Its a very memorable ring considering how long you have used it. Its a good quality ring i think to survive those years and they dont do that anymore

Me too. I adore the original ring. The style of setting and the matching stones go perfectly together. It will be a shame to put the center princess diamond in another setting. I agree with the other posters about getting a new diamond ring if you like the rings in your inspiration photos. By the way, the center diamonds in your inspiration photos are round brilliants. Round diamonds sparkle more and are much brighter than princess cut, so you may enjoy a second diamond ring.
I also like the idea of getting a rose gold band as an alternative.
