Hey ladies,

I just wanted to get some of your opinions. If you were to choose between a 0.68 F VVS1 vs. a 0.82 G VS1 for pretty much the same price, which would you choose? From my understanding color grade can be seen more than clarity. You'd need a microscope and a trained eye to see the difference between a VS1 and a VVS1 and really in color an F-G isn't a huge difference, at least to the naked eye unless you are very color sensitive so I guess what I'm asking is, do you feel that it would be more practical to go for the bigger carat or is it worth it to sacrifice the carat difference for better specs? I have tiny fingers (luckily) so a 0.82 would look like a 1 on my hand. I haven't seen the 0.82 in person, they'd have to transfer it on for me, but the 0.68 has the sparkle that I want. What do you guys think?

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Which one is a better cut? That would be more important to me. Personally, I'm willing to go down to SI1 (eye clean) and "I" color before I see any color/ clarity issues. I wouldn't pay for the VVSI markup, but that's a personal decision.

CUT is the most important thing. I was stupid enough to not know about the 4Cs when buying my diamond and chose color over anything else. Paid SO much for such little stone. Could have gotten something a LOT bigger.

It's actually the Tiffany legacy so from what they've told me the cut is always good, not sure of excellent but I may have heard that. Each diamond is hand made although I do notice that some sparkle more than others, perhaps because some have better cuts which is why I like to see the ring in person. The 0.68 was absolutely stunning.

the color & clarity are so close...I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between the two. the "make" or cut & proportions of the stone will make the most difference (brilliance - light return). from the limited information that I have in this circumstance, I'd lean toward the larger stone since the differences will be imperceptible.

If cut was ideal on both, .82. I have a VS1 and you can't see anything in it. I wouldn't pay more for VVS when a VS1 is clean as a whistle. Further, I don't see a need for an F over a G, it's a large price jump for the color and it's not one I think is worth it. If they'll hold onto the .68 while the .82 gets brought in to compare to, that would be the best plan. Then hold them side by side and view from a few angles.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Just having the 0.82 transferred in and comparing the 2 rings side by side. I've looked at other sizes and compared the colors and clarity and couldn't see a difference. Honestly I think the cut is the only thing different between each because some definitely sparkle more than others. Thank you all so much for your input!

Look at CUTS! Make sure all 3 presence are excellent! Also, by looking at both diamonds with your eyes would tell you which one sparkle more. If you can't tell a difference, go with the bigger one because the the FIRST thing other ppl notice.

If your going for a bigger look , Please remember carat size is not important unless you see them both in person. The smaller carat could look bigger than the larger one. It depends on depth. Get mesurements!! Carat is the weight of the stone. If you want bigger , make sure the table is wider. I had 2 stones in front of me. One was 1.30 and one was 1.12 . The 1.12 looked so much larger than the 1.30 carat. I would also go down in color and clarity for cut. I see nothing wrong with SI , as long as it is eye clean even though I can spot inclusions really easy.
