Hi Folks:

I've purchased some items on E-bay over the years, but have never had a situation like this before. On October 20, I purchased a clutch/crossbody bag on E-bay and paid right away for it. Since then, the item is showing as "Paid" but there has been no information that it has ever been shipped. I tried contacting the seller 4 times now, but no response.

At one point, I tried to contact E-bay to get them to investigate, but apparently they won't do anything until after the date when the bag is supposed to arrive (November 15). I will wait until then, or even an additional 2-3 days to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, in case they shipped the item but have not marked it as such.

This is really surprising, as the seller had only positive reviews, and had other random designer items listed for sale - all photographed within the same living room setting, which had me believing that they are simply selling off items from their own collection. The price for the clutch is also quite reasonable - I paid directly what they wanted - without negotiating, as I found it fair.

From those of you who have more experience with E-bay, any thoughts on what may be going on? / what else can be done? / what steps E-bay make take?

I would really like to receive this clutch - don't mind the wait - but would be helpful if the seller at least responded, if there are issues preventing them from shipping.

Thanks a lot!

Did that bag have to be shipped to ebay for authentication? Sellers are suppose
to ship several days after payment has been made
That could be the delay but Oct 20th til now, that's seems to be unacceptable
I'd call again & ask to speak with a supervisor

I'd open an "item not received" case immediately after the date the bag should have arrived and if the seller doesn't reply to that and there's no tracking number uploaded by them then eBay will refund you.

Maybe the seller has issues but it doesn't take 30 seconds to send a quick message to say there'll be a delay in posting. Unless they are in a serious situation but that's speculation if you're not told.

Thanks for the replies so far! No, there is no authentication involved. I'm not too concerned about the $ as I understand that E-bay will have to refund given the circumstances and the amount is below $1K, but just trying to do all I can to actually receive the bag, as I was looking forward to it.

Just curious as I'm not overly familiar with eBay - if the item was over $1K would eBay not issue a refund under the same circumstances?

I think that E-bay issues refunds in such cases no matter the amount. I was just saying that I'm more concerned about not receiving the bag than I am about the financial aspect, since I know that E-bay will eventually issue the refund (if the bag does not arrive - still hoping that it was sent, just not acknowledged in the E-bay tracking system).

I see, thanks for the clarification. I hope everything works out for you.

That's a long time for you to be able to file a complaint! Maybe the bag isn't shipping from CA? Anyway, I would just wait and file the item not received the next day after it was due to be received. At that point Ebay will contact the seller.
I recently had a similar situation and I actually did not want the item after I had to wait so long, so I reached out to the seller several times and asked to cancel the order. Crickets. I filed an Item Not Received complaint as soon as I could and suddenly I received a tracking number and the item arrived a few days later. I was angry because the seller had not responded to me before. I left negative feedback for late shipping and poor/no communication.

Thanks, Folks! Yes, I really want the item, so I think that I will wait it out another week and then file the "Item not received" process on November 16 to get E-bay to investigate. For all I know, the seller may have shipped but may not have updated that in the system. The seller has 100% positive reviews, but based on their activity has been less active in the past year. Is there a chance that the listing may have been up a long time and they may not be checking the system to know that it has been purchased and paid for? I don't know how the process works for Sellers, as I don't sell on E-bay.

My lesson from this is to always reach out to the Seller via email prior to purchasing anything substantive just to have assurance that the Seller is responsive. I should have done that in this case as well. Also, E-bay should give us the chance to see whether a message has been read or not - I sent 4 messages but have no way of seeing whether the Seller even read them.
