Dressing the Top Handle

I have seen a few members wrap a scarf around the top handle of an Hermes Kelly. I would love it if someone would please explain how you do it. I've tried to wrap a scarf, but it looks so sloppy and bulky. I LOVE the look, especially with a vintage bag that needs a little sprucing up!!! Pictures would be GREAT!!!
