Can someone direct me to the right spot? I just purchased this vintage bi-color Noe and it will be an upcoming gift for my daughter. The drawstring is literally hanging on by a thread, as you can see. I can take it to my leather guy and see what he’ll charge. My guess is that he’ll cut it, open up the two sides, overlap them, glue down and then re-stitch, but there will likely be a tiny bump where they meet. My other thought was that I could run a small piece of interfacing into the “tunnel” created by the fold over of the leather when they make the drawstring, if you follow. One side glued in/dry; second side glued in/dried and a touch of leather glue and paint where they meet to disguise it. Anyone have experience with a broken drawstring and a fix (guessing plain replacement here!) LV will charge $100 for a new drawstring and I don’t want to go that route, the bag was not super expensive. Or maybe the friction of the drawstring will cause it to fall apart anyway. Other than that, the bag is in great shape for a vintage bag! Just wondering about opinions, thanks!IMG_2322.jpeg

The bag doesn’t sell more than $300 that’s if all the other part are in like new condition, better save money not do anything, I’d suggest putting a twilly to use as drawstring

Agree, yes, which is why I won’t go through LV for a new drawstring. I may play with it myself but my leather guy will definitely enlighten me! He’s very free with information for us DIY types and at the very least I can get a cost for him to do it, which I’m hoping will not be much. I was wondering if others here have had the same experience and what they did with it. The more I talk it out, the clearer the direction becomes! Thank you for the feedback!

The outside has some minor creasing and the inside is perfect. The rest of the drawstring is in good shape with some minor wear, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. My leather guy (actually his wife, twice on the phone) would not even give a ballpark quote without seeing the bag, guess I can’t blame them. I’ve just done so many fix-its in my life that my wheels are turning over other possible repair options.

Thank you, I’ll check again. It’s green (bi-color Noe) so no green so far that I could find. I’ll be near my leather guy tomorrow, he may even be able to make me one inexpensively, it’s pretty basic!.

Follow up... I left the drawstring with my leather guy. Cost was where I expected it, not cheap but it was a lot less that LV's replacement quote and he does fantastic work, so we'll see in a few weeks when I get it back after Thanksgiving. At least it will be professionally done and I'll feel good about gifting this thing. It's in beautiful condition otherwise and the original cost of the bag wasn't too bad, so there was wiggle room for the repair. Thanks for comments, I'll post a picture when I get it back!
