hello,

I used to have a bigger collection with more Chanel and H but decided I never really felt the love for them as found them big and cumbersome jumbos , gst, evelyns etc and sold them. Im not done yet..id like to sell the 5 bags on the left row where red Prada is. These are my least used bags.

Whats left is a row of casual bags and far right will be 4 medium sized bags for work and 4 evening smaller bags along with the casual "kicking around bags". Im not keen on my only hobo, the puddled guccissima suky..this too is a heavy bag, but very well loved so not sure will get much in selling it...hmm. I use all of them regularly.

I need opinions on the downsize to acheive my purse peace. Did i choose who to chop well? Please keep in mind I cant do heavy bags due to back problems now. Shall i defnitatly keep a bag i mentioned chopping and am making a mistake? Id be pretty happy without that left row...thoughts on my collection? Tia

I think the bags you’re considering rehoming are excellent choices. Those are styles and brands that are very desirable. People have different reasons for keeping/rehoming their bags, you are making your choices based on your individual reasons and not so much about money. I think that’s the best approach. The bags you’re keeping cover a range of colours and sizes. The only one I would caution you to think deeply about is the two-coloured channel, they continue to go up in price and it’s a beautiful and versatile bag. But saying that, if you’re not using it, then that should go. Just my opinions...

i think you made great choices on which to sell. i'd probably add in the puddle one (black) and the largest one behind it. if you have back/shoulder issues you def. want the smaller sized bags. unless it's a nylon material. i think it looks good. i did the same last year - sold off the heavy bags and opted for small/mini and nylons. it has helped a lot. and i don't even miss the Chanel/LV stuff. do what's right for your lifestyle:smile:

Well done on cutting out the excess in your collection. There is a lot of discussion about downsizing or decluttering and minimalism on the forum. It’s just a general observation and not directed specifically at the OP of this thread, but if everyone bought more carefully there’d be less need for decluttering? I think we need more discussion on buying with more care and more thought and less on shedding stuff we wish we hadn’t bought.

However, tpf, is a great place to be enabled. That can be good or bad. As I type this, I am gazing at side banners advertising backpacks and another advertising bags from Nordstrom. So even if one isn't influenced by someone's actual purchase, you're constantly bombarded with messages of "Buy this one." My collection is roughly 12 pieces. There's always a few that I buy or get rid of. Every so often, I like a different bag in my main bag color of black. Most women are into bags, if I could make do with just one, I wouldn't be here. Some of this may have to do with the demographic; many purse enthusiasts start off younger and seems that purchasing tastes and along with it, purchasing power, changes as one ages. At one point, I probably had 75 bags. There could have been more. Of course, sometimes you just can't take them all with you. I haven't yet reached the stage where I will completely stop buying bags. Bravo to those who have. I think OP made some great choices.

I think your choices of what to get rid of is good. I would try and get rid of the puddly Gucci too. I like the mz behind it.
I too am getting rid of some of my higher end bags that are either to heavy for me or just don't work for my more relaxed life style now. I also am opting for smaller light weight bags that are good quality but not as delicate as some.

I agree, Im going to add that puddly gucci as the MZ nylon takes it place as casual kicking around bag. I may keep my chanel bi coloured boy instead as my now highest end bag if doesnt sell by xmas. If Im not happy, I'll sell next year. I think that row needs to go with puddle gucci too. thank you

Overall, I think you are making a very good cull. I'd consider keeping the Gucci 1973, because it's beautiful and unique and, absent it, the only evening bag I see is the black Chanel WOC with silver hardware. If you only ever wear silver jewelry and/or the Chanel is just more your style, then by all means sell it. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I find the Gucci much more interesting than the Chanel, and far better than what Gucci is doing nowadays. Especially if you can't get a good price for it, I'd hang on to it.
