My most used bag is an old Couch Court bag hiding in the back. My boyfriend bought it for me over a decade ago, but it doesn’t feel like “me” anymore.

My first luxury bag is the Speedy 30 that I bought from a vintage shop in Japan in 2016. I carried it to work because it fit my giant water bottle and everything I needed, but I started to really dislike the saggy shape when it wasn’t full.

Then I bought the Chanel small CF when I got my first promotion, and I hardly use it because it’s the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought that wasn’t a diamond. Trying to get over that because it’s so silly.

The BV Mini Loop I love, and got an airport in Italy on a whim before the price increases. I wish I had bought more bags that trip.

I want to get rid of the Céline Trio. The multiple pouches are inconvenient for me, but I find them really handy while traveling.

I bought the Marni Trunk to replace my Coach crossbody, but they’re so different. The clasp is fussy and although I love the look of the Marni, it isn’t as functional. I won’t get rid of her though.

The Loewe Flamencos are also staying. I just recently bought the small mini version and it looks like leather satin, I just think they’re so beautiful and nonchalant.

The big tote is an old Céline that I love and won’t get rid of either. The design is so cool, the straps are asymmetric and make the leather fold and billow under the arm in the most chic way. It fits my laptop so it’s a work bag for me, though I find I use it daily too.

The little green guy is a Loewe pouch that I adore but it scratches my hand getting in and out of the zipper. The monogram is embossed and looks like vintage tile or something, so neat.

On my wishlist is another structured crossbody or shoulder bag like the Gucci Horsebit 1955 or Prada Cleo, but would love suggestions on timeless luxury bags you love.

Thanks!

I like your curated collection a lot. Your rationale makes sense to me. I found myself nodding with respect to your explanations. And, I think the gucci horsebit 55 sounds like a perfect fit. :drinks: I recommend just wearing the CF with anything from jeans and shorts to dinners out

ETA: I realized you wanted downsizing advice. If you don’t wear the speedy bc of its size, but you like it otherwise, a smaller version might be nice. Unless you feel that you’ve outgrown that particular model. I also would like to suggest instead of the LV or the gucci, another direction might me a loewe mini puzzle. It’s a crossbody that can fit more than many structured mini bags, yet is also cute and small enough to be a nice handheld bag for dinners. I have white pebbled leather, and even though Ive collapsed it into suitcases; worn it in the rain; and spilled dessert and curry on it, it wipes clean with a bit of water and looks daisy fresh. Highly recommend.

Thank you so much!

Just my personal opinion. So please do not take offense , I'm just going to get straight to the point:

My most used bag is an old Couch Court bag hiding in the back. My boyfriend bought it for me over a decade ago, but it doesn’t feel like “me” anymore. (I'd move on. Personally, if it's not me anymore, I would just stop wearing it and it would be sitting there and taking up space. If it's something my husband got for me, he'd definitely understand and encourage me to do so.)

My first luxury bag is the Speedy 30 that I bought from a vintage shop in Japan in 2016. I carried it to work because it fit my giant water bottle and everything I needed, but I started to really dislike the saggy shape when it wasn’t full. (I'd. also move on. Things like that bother me as well. It builds up until I can't stand it anymore and I eventually get rid of the bag.)

Then I bought the Chanel small CF when I got my first promotion, and I hardly use it because it’s the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought that wasn’t a diamond. Trying to get over that because it’s so silly. (It's hard, I know. But try!)

The BV Mini Loop I love, and got an airport in Italy on a whim before the price increases. I wish I had bought more bags that trip. (keep)

I want to get rid of the Céline Trio. The multiple pouches are inconvenient for me, but I find them really handy while traveling. (I'd hold on until I found a travel bag that I love. For now, it fits it's purpose.)

I bought the Marni Trunk to replace my Coach crossbody, but they’re so different. The clasp is fussy and although I love the look of the Marni, it isn’t as functional. I won’t get rid of her though. (I'd move on, I dislike bags that are fussy. I end up not reaching for them. May I ask why you won't get rid of her?)

The Loewe Flamencos are also staying. I just recently bought the small mini version and it looks like leather satin, I just think they’re so beautiful and nonchalant. (keep, on a side note, I'm not a person who buys multiple of the same bag but I understand if you love them)

The big tote is an old Céline that I love and won’t get rid of either. The design is so cool, the straps are asymmetric and make the leather fold and billow under the arm in the most chic way. It fits my laptop so it’s a work bag for me, though I find I use it daily too. (keep, and I see that you also use this as a work bag, even more of a reason to say goodbye to the speedy)

The little green guy is a Loewe pouch that I adore but it scratches my hand getting in and out of the zipper. The monogram is embossed and looks like vintage tile or something, so neat. (pass, I don't like bags that scratch my hands, even more for me because I like to wear a lot of rings.)

On my wishlist is another structured crossbody or shoulder bag like the Gucci Horsebit 1955 or Prada Cleo, but would love suggestions on timeless luxury bags you love.

I think both the Gucci horsebit and prada cleo are beautiful bags with a timeless shape. I was very interested in buying the Cleo for the longest time but I have heard that the brushed leather is more delicate and can scratch easily. For now, I've passed on it.

Do you have a budget?
I like Moynat bags and Delvaux. They are more pricy but you can find them on the resale market for a much better price point compared to retail.

I really appreciate you so much! This advice is thoughtful and thorough and very helpful when it comes to decision-making. Your point about the Marni was thought-provoking, and I had to ask myself the same question. Why was I keeping a bag that was so fussy? Well, I wanted it very much. I thought it beautiful and unusual. And even though it is not the most convenient, it does spark joy because of the way it looks. And also, it's my only shoulder bag.

Everything else, you're spot on and I needed that!
I adore Delvaux so much, but always thought them to be out of my budget. To be honest, I haven't given Moynat much thought – but will add both of them to my resale search, thank you!

This is the best post :)

I think a base shaper or felt organizer will help with your Speedy's sagging issue.
My best advice for the CF is to get it into your rotation, see if you like using it - if you do, keep it and if not, sell it. Remember, it's just a bag, and a bag is meant to be carried.
For the Coach and the scratchy pouch, I'd let them go as you have a small collection and I feel everything has to make sense when you only have that few bags.
