Hi guys!
So I've been thinking about PS for a couple years now but I've only just started my research. So my situation is that I have a weak/receded chin and an open bite. At first I considered getting a chin implant to fix my weak chin but I started seeing people talk about orthognathic or double jaw surgery. Which made me remember about how my orthodontist mentioned that he wasn't 100% sure that Invisalign would fix my open bite and that I might have to get jaw surgery in order to fix it. I quickly dismissed the whole idea and just had the idea that Invisalign would be the answer to my bite. Two years later... my open bite is still here and Invisalign barely helped at all. So I just accepted that I would have to live with it.
I have been considering doing double jaw surgery but after reading some reviews and stories, I have honestly gotten really scared of it since it is a major surgery. I don't really have any serious problems with my jaw either, the only thing is that it is inconvenient when I eat. Which is why I'm not sure if jaw surgery is worth it. But I keep swinging back and forth thinking about all the benefits, including being able to bite down on pizza and improving my side profile.
I also have been considering getting chin implants. Although it won't fix my open bite, it will improve my side profile and it is a less intensive procedure. AND I would also get a rhinoplasty along with it. Since I wouldn't do a rhinoplasty with jaw surgery.
I was wondering what do you guys think? Is Jaw surgery worth it? Should I just get a chin implant instead?
