Went looking for a new purse. It's the end of the year and I haven't bought one all year . . saw the Darrington in Teak at a MC store--it was instant love. Didn't buy though--it's marked down from $995 but still expensive. I don't see any reviews of the bag . . I was told they didn't make too many. My only hesitation is that the bag just has a magnetic closure (I prefer a zipper) and no inside compartments. Looking for input and someone to talk me out of this because I'm feeling a tad irrational at the moment.

I absolutely LOVE that bag and have handled in many times. It's too big for me which is the only reason I wouldn't consider it - I like small bags. There are a couple on sale on the MK website.
It's really stunning IRL - gorgeous hardware and details and the usual ridiculously gorgeous leather that MK reserves for his collection bags.
The MK forum hasn't been around that long, so we haven't had tons of reveals yet. I think most of us wait for the collection bags to go on sale, which is pretty rare, so you don't see a lot of collection bag reveals or reviews. I don't think it's because we don't LOVE the Darrington - I certainly do - it's just hard to get it on sale.

I took the plunge!! I got it--it's beyond gorgeous--there are apparently two sizes--large and extra large. The extra large was too big--the large is perfect size. I got it at the Michael Kors store.

I love the hardware, and the leather is gorgeous. I love the way it looks casual on you in that picture, but with a dressier outfit, it looks dressy too, it's so versatile. You wear it incredibly well!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the size is just perfect on you!

I made a mistake in my posting - I paid $394.00 not $384.00.
Now I'm wondering ......the color is Vicuna which is a distressed brown. What do you think of this color for now and Spring?
The bag is gorgeous and I will keep it, and I was told in MK Shop that Vicuna is all year and in Nordstrom I was told fall / winter.

I got it at a better price than NM. I bought in at the Michael Kors Store. It was $597 (40% off $995). Interestingly enough they had one in plum and black too for the same price. The others bags were pretty but somehow the gold hardware was just a knockout on this bag (and I usually prefer silver._ The spring line is still $995. It was cheaper in the store than online Michael Kors. The only caveat is that it's final sale. No problem for me--I am in love with this bag. Funny thing is they had an even larger version of this for around $699 (marked down from 1095).
As far as the closure goes--I prefer a top zip for travel and this is a great size travel bag, as well as everyday bag. So when I get a little time I'll post a pic of how I solved that problem--forget all those purse inserts, been there, done that, they bug me --I got me real zipper pockets that I sewed into the lining.

Love this!!! Have seen this IRL and love it - very unique and will be in fashion forever. Gorgeous!! As for when to use it - I'd say that depends on where you live and your personality. I would be tempted to use this in Spring/Summer as well as Fall/Winter. If you can use a black bag in spring/summer, certainly you can use this!!
Thanks for backing up my thoughts. I personally don't see why this bag can't be used all year round but once someone puts something in my head it kind of gets stuck there. The bag really is special and will be loved as with all of my others. Like most here, I am so bag obsessed and tho I say I don't need another, I always end up with one, especially when a good deal is laid in front of me.
