Does my choice of earrings "cheapen" my look?

Ok I might sound a little bit paranoid here, but I read in several style books that cheap jewelry can destroy a whole look (the same as when you see a good dressed woman, but when you suddenly see here choice of footwear you want to scream :cursing:)... and that kept me thinking... all the earrings I buy are very cheap because I often lose them (no matter what I do, it just happens). I can't justify spending much in them but I really try to go for pairs that don't scream "PLASTIC!!". What do you think?

As you can see I like plain silver earings and pearl earrings...

I am the exact same way!!! All of my earrings are very cheap, b/c no matter how careful I am, by the end of the night, I am never too shocked when I go to take them off and there is only one there!

It all started when I was really young (about 11 maybe) and I decided to wear my only pair of "good earrings" - little real diamond studs to a birthday party. I was so careful, but lo and behold when I came home from the party and my mom said I didn't have an earring in my left ear, I cried! Literally...

Ever since then I steer clear of expensive earrings. If I do shell out more bucks on jewelry I tend to by necklaces, b/c those are difficult to lose like earrings or damage like a swingy bracelet.

Imo, some cheap-o earrings can ruin a look, the key word being "some."

Your earrings are fine, dear! I'm sure you look fantastic!

Btw- I LOVE the long rose ones!!! Where did you get them and what brand are they??

Hi Belle, I do agree that cheap jewelry, like cheap shoes, can really bring a look down. However, I think it's not hard to find inexpensive jewelry that doesn't look cheap. I often wear round silver studs or plain pearl studs like yours and I think they look great. Don't worry about it, your earrings are great!
IMO, smaller earrings especially rarely look cheap because they are subtle. It's those big chandeliers with plastic "stones" that look really tacky. Plain metal or pearl is a safe choice. Your rose earrings are a great example of big metal earrings that don't look at all cheap, they look cute and modern.

I think your earrings look lovely. Really, no one can look and tell the price of fashion/costume jewelry. Some of the top designers use plastic and rhinestones! If you know you are going to lose the earrings, you are very wise to choose less expensive ones and save your money for nice shoes and bags!

I was expecting to open this thread and see huge fake bling hoops :p (no offense to anyone who might like them, it's just not my thing).

Your earrings don't look cheap, no need to worry! :smile1:

i think it's not what goes on the ears, but how well you carry it off.. you don't need expensive earrings or shoes to look stylish.. let your self-confidence shine from within, and people will view you differently..

btw, those earrings look great!

Hehe, same anticipation too...expecting to see "huge fake bling hoops"...yes and no offense too.

But, pearls are always something elegant and brings light to the face w/o being over cluttery in jewelry. I like your choices and the colors of those beauties, don't be paranoid...there's nothing to worry about. I'm sure we're all giving you our honest opinion here.
