Does Louis Vuitton use treated vachetta now?

Hi, I read somewhere- gosh can't remember where- that someone got the vachetta replaced on their preloved bag, and the new vachetta had a different texture and sheen because it was somehow treated. . .that they are using some treatment now to resist water spots. Anyone heard about this? If it's true, I'll seriously think about some vachetta replacement. Thank you for your thoughts on this!

I kinda feel like vachetta has been treated lately too, so I know what you mean....I don't have the nerve to test it though. Texture doesn't seem as porous and I do see the sheen.

Ha, I don’t think I would have the nerve, either. I don’t have a new bag with vachetta, as my latest was DE. I’m thinking of replacing the vachetta on a Neverful PM, though, and if treated vachetta is a thing, I may just take the plunge! Haven’t been to a LV store lately, so haven’t asked there. Thank you for your reply!

Some lines have it, I have the Valisette BB which has it and I think my Catogram Neverfull too.

The monogram permanent pieces still seem to have the regular untreated vachetta. I haven’t seen many pieces in person lately but saw the Rivoli and the Alma BB and both seemed to have regular vachetta. Didn’t feel or look treated.

OK - then I agree, I think my Catogram Neverfull has it too - makes sense!

I just got a new Pochette Accessories NM from LV website - very new date stamp so I don't think it would be a return - and I sprayed the vachetta with AppleGuard and it didn't stick or temporarily darken the leather - so I almost think that was pre-treated too. Very light color though so it's not the look as much as the feel.

I bought a Boite Chapeau Souple and it has pretreated vachetta which was what made me pull the trigger on my purchase.
I bought BCS monogram before and had to return it. Instead i exchange with BCS empreinte. But now i just fall in love with Duffle bag. My only concern is the vachetta. After reading ur comment, it just open my eye that BCS monogram is pre-treated vachetta. May i know if Duffle bag is also pre-treated? Also do u mind share how do you know that BCS is pre-treated vachetta?

How does it feel? I recently purchased a pre owned luggage tag and it feels super slick. I wonder if it’s from a treated bag.

I recently had the vachetta replaced on my large Noe bag and yes, there's something smooth and kinda shiny about the vachetta. Especially since it covers the entire bottom of my Noe. I never thought about it being treated, but that would make sense.

How do you know if you received the pre-treated vachetta? I received the petit sac plat for Christmas and it feels a little different but I usually treat my vachetta so I'm not not sure. The website only says:
  • Cowhide-leather trim
Would it say treated??

I recently had the vachetta of my Saumur 43 mono replaced, which originally has untreated vachetta. They replaced with untreated vachetta. I would guess that they put back in what is supposed to be there.
