Does himalayan croc leather turn yellow with time?

I don't have H-croc but like ombre lizard (which I have) there will be a slight natural 'yellowing' over time. It's a process of oxidation. You wouldn't notice it by itself, but when you put it next to a new bag you would. Whites in general do this, which is why traditionally leather shoes and bags were made in ivory in the first place and not white.

There are people who would (and have) sold their entire H collections for one H-croc bag and for others, the ultimate crowing glory in a vast array. IMO, if you're not obsessed with Himalayan croc, it's not the choice for you.

There is a darker type of H-croc if your SA can find you one.

Thank you for your reply. I found that my SA is not so truthful with me.

A few years back, she offered me a lizard ombre pochette. Before I said yes, I checked with a friend who I remember has a lizard ombre bag for quite a while. My friend told me if I didn't mind the yellowing then it'll be ok. So I asked my SA if the ombre will yellow over time. SA said no... never heard of such a thing. My friend came over to show me her yellowed bag... and I was like omg... it was rather bad...

So now SA asked me if I am open to a hima croc... I don't trust her enough to ask her if there will be yellowing.

Playing devil's advocate, it could be your SA doesn't see many older Ombre liz or Himalayan croc bags/items.

The problem is when the slight yellowing doesn't suit a person's wardrobe, particularly true if mostly bright, clear and cool. Again, you could ask for the grey Himalayan which is also beautiful.

Decades ago, I had a pair of ombré ring lizard manolo heels that yellowed in my closet in their dust bag. I had only had them a year, and my closet gets suitable ventilation while being protected from sunlight. I only got to wear them once to a friends wedding. The discoloration was slight, but at the time it bothered me. Of course, if you madly love something and can deal with some aging, go for it. Otherwise, I would pass. ETA: someone knowledgeable about H leather once told me that certain light grays also may tend to oxidize, but that hasn’t stopped me, so YMMV.

ETA: I did see a marked difference in color in a himalaya whose handles had been covered by twillies and whose body had yellowed. Ouch. Not pretty.

Covered with twilly vs tanned unprotected leather. It goes a lovely gold with time! )
(just like ombré lizard)

There you go, thank you! Great illustration. It's hard to appreciate the difference unless you see the new with the older.

If someone can wear sunny or warm-muted colours it's actually a good thing.
