Hi
@880...
Thanks for tagging me. I've been on & off TPF lately, so not checking regularly.
You are correct in your assesment. White pearls/MOP, usually in the context of akoya pearls, "glow" for their luster. The best akoyas have amazing luster that is second to no other pearl; their glow is like glass.
Tahitian pearls, the source of GMOP, is prized more for their bodycolor. The "glow" is a softer glow, more satiny.
Tahitians/GMOP are prized for their color, with "peacock" being the most highly valued. Peacock is a dark green-gray to blue-gray with pink to purple overtones. Aubergine is next, having a dark grayish purple bodycolor. Pistachio is yellowish green to greenish yellow; the least valued.

If you want glow, I would get WMOP, and I would get it with YG. The WMOP that VCA uses with their YG metal has a gorgeous pink overtone. It will literally glow, and if you are wearing earrings or a necklace, it will make your face glow. The WMOP that VCA uses with their WG metal has a silver overtone. It is still beautiful (I have a WG MOP set), but to me, it is no comparison to the WMOP in YG.
If you want the beauty of color, get GMOP. GMOP is stunning with peacock colors of green, pink, purple. It is the Aurora Borealis in a pearl.
Hope this helps.
