Hi ladies!

I am buying a pair of Castañer espadrilles for summer, 9 cm in height, and it's the traditional fabric version.
I did order them in both size 38 and 39 and I just tried them on, realising that I need some advice! :whut:

The 38 is absolutely long enough, I would say that it's the right size from that aspect, but the 39 sits more comfortably (loose) in the front, so, now I wonder if the 38 will loosen up a bit, like a leather shoe would, or if I should pick the 39 to not be damned to a summer with blisters? :wtf:

I have a couple of pairs. They do loosen up a bit, but not dramatically so (that being said, I've worn one of my pairs about a dozen times, and the other less). I would go with what is most comfortable now because they are literally a pain to break in!

Thank you for sharing your experience! Are all of yours the same size?

I should have added that I have a pair of lower heel castaner espadrilles, that are in size 39, I have worn them pretty much, but they are a bit too big on my foot. That's why I ordered a size down too this time. But I can't remember how my old pair felt when I bought them (a very rushed in store purchase as I had to switch out my sneakers in the last minute due to changed plans, and size 39 was the only one left so I did not even try another size, and did not really have time to think about whether they were too big or not.) but of course, they still stay on due to the straps that you tie around the ankle.

I also have a very similar pair from the brand Saludos (looks very similar, same price range and the canvas feels very similar), they are 39 but tighter in the front, in a similar way as the Castañer 38, and I have only worn them once, so I can't say whether they would stretch, but that only time I worn them I got very bad blisters, but again, that's not even the same brand.

It's so hard to decide which pair to keep. I do not want my new pair to get as big as my old Castañers got, but I really don't want to be in pain the whole summer due to blisters either. I'll probably go with the 39's just to be safe, but it will be so annoying if they get streched out too...

I’ve worn Castañer forever-literally since the 60s when my folks brought them back from Spain. They’re great and IMO they run true to full. I’ve pretty much always worn a 39 when I was a 9 and now that I’m a 9.5 I buy 40 which is a bit full.

Fabric really doesn’t stretch unless it’s an open weave so sure they may give a bit but not much.
