Does anyone think resellers are overtaking?

I was about to place an order for a 10 motif necklace today, and I waited 10 minutes or so and it sold already. Everything I’m wanting ends up someone having it faster, and now I’m realizing resale places are flooded with VCA. Thoughts?

Yes! It's literally with everything! Even stuff from TJMAXX, HOMEGOODS, DOLLAR TREE, dolls, clothes, etc, etc. There is SO MUCH GREED out there. I've noticed quite a few articles floating around that talk about how people make hundreds of thousands of dollars with their "flipping" business. A lot of people try to chase that rarity. It's really frustrating!

I agree, it seems like with everything, theres always resellers who sell out items. Even small profits are a lot to people.

I haven’t noticed this. I think it’s just how VCA is. Each piece is handmade so when one comes available it’s snapped up immediately. One needs to be sure of the piece and acquire when it becomes available. There isn’t a huge reseller market for VCA current production items. You simply pay deposit or in full and the next item will be yours when it’s available. That’s how it’s always worked. To build a collection with VCA I always say plan for years and manage expectations.

in my homeland, we see reseller market with 99% preloved. Price is lower than retail (at least current retail price). And they are snapped up fast.
Good for those who don't wish to wait, and don't mind preloved.
So i would say too that it isnt big here on current items in the reseller market.
I know Chanel used to be like that? Not sure about now; I'm out of Chanel play.

I've noticed on Fashionphile that VCA pieces are often listed above retail. For instance, this 5 motif YG MOP vintage Alhambra is listed at $5,345 and offered at VCA for $4,200. You'd have really want something right away to go for it so much over retail. Lots of little Sweet Alhambra hammered rose gold 6 motif bracelets on Fashionphile as well, generally over reatail. Given that there is a wait time for hammered gold anything, it might be understandable to go for it. Maybe.

I’ve noticed this also. I am currently waiting for sweet mop earrings, which my SA said would take about a month. but they are currently available on fashionphile and rebag for just above retail -between 2,700-2,900 usd.

unless its a rare discontinued piece, I am not keen on participating in the resale market. especially major companies that over the years have shown not to be as reliable regarding authenticity etc.

Doesn’t mean they sell for that price. I think the market for above retail VCA for not actually rare pieces (like lapis or turquoise ir rock crystal) is limited. I wouldn’t pay above retail. Would be interesting to see what the actual sale prices are.

I definitely agree!! But I feel like it’s like that for everything now! Everything that is deemed somewhat popular or has potential is sold out so fast and doesn’t even give the chance for people that actually want it to get it for themselves instead of making a profit 😭 It’s been very frustrating
