Does anyone have old lambskin bags? I'm curious about long-term durability.

The older the better! Or if you carry a lot of items in your bags, I'd be interested from hearing from you, too. I hear that lambskins stretches and loses its shape over time. Has that been the case in your experience? Or does the way leather is finished and treated or the way your bag is constructed help it retain its shape?

I used to have a number of chanel lambskin bags. Now with my mom or cousins bc of the ghw.
IMO ( and I am a minority opinion on TPF) chanel lambskin only got better with age. More lustrous, softer, but the bags kept their shape. I still have chanel and dolce lambskin RTW, and it’s the best.

Thank you for your review! That is good to hear. Enjoy those lovely lambskin bags!

I have one that is almost 30 years old that has been loved to death! The strap has been replaced & I condition the lambskin often. It’s not a very structured bag so it’s a bit saggy now, but it just makes me love her all the more. She gets a lot of compliments when I take her out still.

What a gorgeous bag! I like the way it slouches. I was worried the stretching would be more like tearing instead of slouching. So this is really good to know!

Thanks ! I think this bag always was kind of a sloucher, it’s a really soft lamb and lined only with satin, so I doubt it ever had much structure .

Are you interested in a specific bag? There’s not going to be a luxury lambskin bag that‘s going to be a problem; the worst that happens is a general softening and slouchiness that comes with age and is usually sought after.
