Does Anybody Else Have Brown As Their Least Favorite Color For Purses/Handbags?

I don't like brown much either, but I have many LV bags and a Gucci of which brown is the predominant color. I bought them mainly because I liked their shape, weight, and utility, but I will not buy any more with brown. I do have other colors in solids as well, so that keeps me sane......

YES! I can admire great brown leather. But, I don’t like (and don’t own) brown bags. This is one reason I don’t have an LV mono canvas bag. If they had them in black / grey - maybe.

But, then I don’t like Earth toned clothing in general. I like a true or jewel toned green or blue. Sometimes ivory. But, items in autumn-y colors like moss or hunter green, harvest gold, browns, rust, muddy greys and taupes aren’t for me.

I'll get shot for this but I like black the least, and I won't touch a grey purse to save my life. I'm slowly opening to the idea of white. But my grandmother only carried white handbags her entire life(apart from a black for funerals, and a metallic silver for holidays and weddings)...Maybe ivory is an idea.

I am another jewel toned fan for clothing, and black is my number one bag color for most of the year! I do like some summer colors such as turquoise, white, ivory, royal blue, etc. I wear nothing that would go with a primary brown color purse.

Remember when chocolate brown was the new black? Can't recall exactly when that was but chocolate brown was everywhere from bags to clothes to shoes. In any case, I only have one dark brown bag in my closet and that is a BV espresso brown which is almost black. It works with certain things in my closet and is a nice change from pure black. Otherwise, I'm like most of you that brown and other autumn colors like orange, pumpkin, rust, camel, yellow-greens, etc just don't work for me.

I didn't get brown for a long time and, more often than not, I still prefer the crispness of black or a color to brown, but I recently fell in love with a specific shade (mahogany), and now appreciate that there is a warmth and richness to it that no other color in my wardrobe possesses. "Brown" is really an incredibly broad term, and while it encompasses some very ugly colors, it encompasses some very beautiful ones too. If you think about it more specifically, you might find a shade that you love. Personally, I can’t stand LV monogram, and think it is a shame if that's what comes to mind when people think of brown bags. Two brands that I think do brown very well are The Row and Tod’s.

I don't think I have a least favourite colour, perhaps taupe

I adore brown leather bags, especially two shades of brown in particular - the first being a rich, cognac shade of brown. I just bought the Ferragamo Joanne/Flap shoulder bag in this shade and absolutely love this bag. For me, this color is a year-round neutral and goes with almost any outfit I wear. So its kind of my 'go to' bag.

The other shade of brown I love is a true rich dark chocolate brown. I don't care if its in fashion or not. I will still wear it; however I prefer it for autumn and winter.

I have several lovely brown handbags that I haven't carried in ages. Including several LV monogrammed handbags. I haven't used any of them for a very long time because my need for colour supersedes my need to use browns. The browns look winterish and blah to me these days. Same goes for my black handbags. The two neutral colours that I always carry these days are a variety of pink shades and burgundy.

I love all shades of brown and beige. It goes well with both light and dark coloured clothes and brown ages so well. It just gets richer with age. Shades like gold*, ebene, chocolat, havanne, cocoan*, etrusque*, alezan*, etoupe*, marron d'inde*, toundra, tabac, kraft etc.

*I have these colours and only 2 black bags. I always thought I would have more black than brown. Keep in mind my age though, I am not far from 50 and I don't remember having a brown bag when I was in my teens/20s.

Me!
i acquired a few brown bags during my process of identifying my likes and dislikes, ended up selling most of them!
i have one that i use occasionally, but it's more toffee than brown, and one for the sake of having it in the collection - oldie Bal in rarest caribou leather, not meant to use it, just had to have it :p
definitely not getting any more! lesson learnt, not my colour, neither for purses, nor for clothes

Brown is one of my (if not the) favorite color for bags. So I realize I have nothing to do in this thread, feel free to throw me out, but I couldn’t help commenting :P
Remember when chocolate brown was the new black? Can't recall exactly when that was but chocolate brown was everywhere from bags to clothes to shoes. .

That was the first half of the 90s, during Tom Ford’s reign. I remember I had this Gucci bag and wallet that were like liquid chocolate. That is my favorite shade of brown too. I believe the expression “... is the new black” was actually invented for chocolate brown. It was everywhere and then pouff, it was gone. But it is coming back!

It is all about personal taste, obviously, but I do think brown becomes leather like few other colors. In contrast, grays, which look great in wools and cachemires, tend to make leather look dull. Another plus of brown, for me, is that, unlike black, it suits brunettes better than blonds .
