Since LV debuted a fragrance line, I have noticed fabric in-store purchases smell of a mash-up of their fragrances. While I wear fragrance, I am sensitive to smell (especially those I dislike), so this is disheartening. In the last few years, I have purchased two scarves, one bandeau and a bag with a fabric strap, all of which have come home drenched in fragrance (four separate purchases, four different stores). It’s difficult to assess this in store, as the stores smell of fragrance. I was able to dry clean the scarves and air out the bandeau, but I was not pleased I had to take these steps with new purchases. After two weeks of trying various methods to get the fragrance out of the fabric strap with no success, I returned the bag. When I contacted CS about this concern, I was told my situation was “unique”. Am I just unlucky? Am I just overly sensitive to fragrance and others notice, but aren’t bothered by it? Please share your experiences!

Sounds like a situation that's hopefully limited to your particular store. Someone was trying things on after trying fragrances !!! I hope you can find another store !!

Thank you, and I only wish that was true! Four different stores, two different states. One East Coast, three West Coast. Maybe I’m just overly sensitive to the smells?

Never noticed this in LV, but I remember shopping in Hollister years ago, everything absolutely stank of their fragrance (which wasn't particularly pleasant). I actually had a headache coming out of that store between the darkness and the smell. I've never had this issue with any of my purchases from LV. I don't know how that would happen, it's not like you can smell the fragrance as soon as you enter the store. I would've also guessed that it had been from someone who had been trying fragrance samples then requesting to see several bags.

This happens with almost all bags that are sent to me from the stores. It’s awful for me as I have scent-triggered migraines. I have had to send some of the bags back because the smell won’t air out.

Agree with you about Hollister! Had their discriminatory practices not already turned me off, the stench emanating from the store would have kept me from shopping there. Like Axe Body Spray, I think you have to be of a certain age to appreciate it.

The first time this happened was in a store that didn’t sell fragrance (small boutique within a department store), but those usually still have fragrance samples on hand to include with purchases. I‘ve seen CAs in that location wearing the merchandise, so I figured one must have liberally used a fragrance sample and worn the scarf, or it was transfer from their own personal fragrance. It was too intense to be simply transfer from a quick try-on.

I‘m so sorry this happens to you, too, but I’m also glad it’s not just me. When I contacted CS, they told me my situation was “unique”; their exact word. Maybe if enough of us raise this as an issue, or there are enough returns because of it, LV will do something about it.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I frequent my home store and never really noticed it. When I try on the regular perfumes they let me spray it in store. However, this one time I wanted to try on Les Sables Roses. It's one of the ouds and really strong. The manager told my CA to take me outside of the store to spray it. That's probably why non of the ouds have testers on display.

My store and Beverly Hills have testers for all oud fragrances!

OP, I don’t smell any fragrances on any of the products or none of my purchases. I do notice they do “smell” but not perfumes. I think someone actually sprayed perfumes all over to find out the smell of them. That prob what your experiencing.

Maybe I'm mistaken and it is on display. I'm going to see my CA tomorrow, so I'll double check. He did take me out of the store to spray it. That I'm 100% certain.

I too am very sensitive to smells, especially perfume. I was gifted a shine shawl for Mother’s Day last year that was purchased for me in my home store with my usual SA. When I opened it, it definitely had a smell of a perfum. I assumed someone had tried it on in the store that was wearing perfum. I wore it a few times before I couldn’t take it anymore. I hand washed it and took care of the smell.

Ok, I wasn’t mistaken. My CA told me that Hawaii doesn’t carry the ouds due to our warm climate. If people want it, the store would have to order it and ship it in. They have a tester in the back office. 82DFD81F-653E-4B45-B80D-355DAFD91E19.jpeg249BE3FB-3904-4557-950A-2604F0B40F36.jpeg
