Absolutely yes! I wash everything I buy before I wear it/use it.
I had a friend who worked in a big dept store, once he told their basement got flooded and all the stuff they used to store there got completely wet. His boss told him to hang everything and let it dry. Once dry, they sold it. GROSS!!!!

Yes... gets the funky smell off, makes them soft, and cleans it again.
