It's been raining a lot here i Sweden and I don't dare to use my AW Marti in the rain. I've heard about lambskin and how your not supposed to get it wet because it can get stained, but is this true about AW bags? Do you use your bag in the rain? Have you had any problems with it getting stained by water?

I would love to use my bag everyday but I don't want to ruin the leather. :rain:

I think you'd be fine if you treated the leather. Not sure what products you have in Sweden but there's sure to be a thread somewhere on PF that suggests good products to use!

I treat my Rocco with the apple conditioner before I go out in the rain and it's been fine. But I don't think I've ever taken it out in the pouring rain, only when it's sprinkling. It snows more than rain where I live. :)

Thank you ladies, I can't believe I didn't think about that. :shame:

Keep in mind that Rocco leather and Marti leather are very different. The washed leather can be ruined by some protection products from what I've been told. Here's a link to a product that I found through the Balenciaga forum. Never used it but I think you can actually email Barbara and ask for advice. A lot of people use Apple Care but I don't know re: washed leather...let me know what you end up finding, I'll need to do my Jane and Donna as well, contrary to the scorching summer we're having Vancouver is generally pretty wet! More, info, I just emailed to ask what they recommend for both the washed leather and the sturdier Rockie/Rocco leather, will let you know!

I agree. I wouldn't treat/protect Rocco and Marti the same way. I have never owned a Marti but have had a Eugene and I believe that the leather is the same. I always considered the washed leathers more delicate. I have never had a problem with my Roccos in the rain and I don't recall any issues with my Eugene (black) either...but I would be more cautious with the washed leathers. IMO.

Barbara at Lovin My Bags is always a great help.

I love the Eugene...I keep eyeing that black one on eBay from ******...thanks for the confirmation re: Lovin my Bags! :D

I agree! I wouldn't treat them the same, and I'm frankly to scared to treat my Marti at all at this point.:p I was going to see what people use for their lambskin Chanel bags, that should work for our bags! And I do think a bit of a drizzle is fine, but right now it's apparently monsoon season in Sweden! :D

Muchstuff - I think of you every time I see that Eugene! I wonder if AW is bringing any new Eugenes out this season, I haven't been looking in to that yet.

Thank you both again, and keep us posted if you receive an answer Muchstuff! :D

Haven't heard back from Barbara yet (it's the weekend!) but I read on the Lovin My Bags website that their "Most Delicate Collection" of products is recommended for delicate lambskin bags such as Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu and Hermes. Cathead87, have you actually used the products? If so, were you happy? How do they compare to Apple Care?

Adding this quoted from PFer:

I must give a warning here about LMB products. I used this on both my Delightful GM and Artsy. You must apply this very carefully as it is a lotion and can go on heavier in spots than others. I used a white washcloth to apply it and did it very slowly and exactly as the instructions told me, however as with any lotion, it is impossible to apply it perfectly evenly everywhere. Some spots must have absorbed more lotion than others. That is the only reason I can think of why both my bags patinaed very unevenly. The handles looked blotchy and there is no way to get the cream between the laces of the Artsy handle, so it was always a bit off there. I had to sell both bags and re-buy new ones as the uneven patina drove me crazy. On the new bags I have used AppleGarde spray that I bought on Amazon and its amazing! It sprays evenly and gets into the tiniest cracks and crevices since its a spray. Both my bags have a beautiful, even patina now. I have been caught in torrential downpours unexpectedly and the water beads up and rolls right off...like a waxed car! Its really great stuff and I would never use anything else again! Before you say I must have applied the LMB wrong, both my mother and sister and 3 of my friends used the same product on their bags and ALL of them had the same bad experience with it. I know some here have had no problems, and I heard they did recently re-formulate the product. Whether that was the issue or not I don't know, but I'll stick with AppleGarde!
