do you shop for your REAL or IMAGINARY lifestyle?

^ that wool zara coat is really nice, I would wear it to an opera show or sightseeing in NYC

Thanks for the input, girls. I dislike wearing heels because I feel it gives me unwanted attention if it makes sense. Like I'm trying to show off myself. I'm just a shy girl and I like to blend in. I only wear them for special nights or when my bf is in town.

Updating my autumn wardrobe....(what I call the seasonal clearout....) what do you think of this? I've started a new london lifestyle blog as well - due to popular demand so see you there.;)

Completely OT but I'm trying to find a thread where you and another poster posted a list of clothing brands that were either fair trade, or producing local, and there were some cool European/British , do you remember which ones? Do you mind maybe creating a thread on the subject?

I mentioned brands on this thread http://forum.purseblog.com/the-ward...al-wardrobe-goals-795941-15.html#post25253189

I am currently reading Eco Chic and will write a blog post review shortly.

Thank you! I want to shop more responsibly, and willing to pay more for fair values and ethical quality. I just need help in this jungle, and you have posted a few uk sites I'd be able to order from.

It is definitely a jungle. I posted a blog post about Brora being manufactured by Johnstons Cashmere recently as the owner of Brora didn't want to have her cashmere line made in China. There is a video on YouTube about Johnstons. It was made by The Financial Times (FT) and it's very interesting.

I am currently working on my wardrobe to only have a few pieces but all high quality and ethically made items. Let us know what and where you order from. Maybe you could do a little review here of the company to let others know of your experiences with them and your thoughts.

On a side note, the People Tree pyjamas I purchased have been washed a few times now and are one of the softest nightwear items I own. The only problem with People Tree is there sizing is inconsistent.

I will add more companies as I find them. There is a directory in the back of Eco Chic but some companies are no longer in business. I used to purchase from Gossypium when they did cotton items for the home, nightwear and clothing. They are still going but are specialising in yoga wear now.

Just got this dress by Galliano at a huge discount.
Its not quite as I thought but I like it, but do I like it enough to keep it?
What do you think?

It's great to hear more of us are trying to shop responsibly. I am always trying, not always succeeding and then I try again! Thank you to the lovely tpf members who posted useful links for their favourite ethical shopping adventures. Please keep them coming. X

Decided to purchase the hat after all. I went to Johnstons in Hawick to try it and liked it. I don't love it, but like it strongly. It will come in handy if we have a winter like last year.

So far I have purchased hat, gloves and cardigan from Johnstons - REAL LIFE

A fleece from cotton traders for colder days and days out and about - REAL LIFE

The skirts I purchased from Brora and Peopletree have been worn often, so were worth buying.

This thread has told me most of us purchase for imaginary lifestyles, although we are all making progress with the real life purchases.

On a side note, I used to buy things thinking I had nothing to wear. This time round I shopped my wardrobe instead. For a funeral I wore the black skirt from peopletree, silk blouse and black cardi with ballet pumps. For a family get together I wore the skirt again with a red peplum top and ballet pumps.

For any new purchases I am making a wish list and adding them gradually. I am hoping to purchase a pair of Dubarry Clare boots by next February/March.
