Do you recommend buying Mother of Pearl on line?

Yes they vary, but I don't think they vary THAT much. If you don't have a boutique near you, you could try to see if anyone has any SAs who are willing to ship. SAs can send you pictures and videos and then you can choose one that you like from that.
Hi! For me, they are very close. I am not super picky, and I don't stare at every inch.
Before I purchased my MOP WG pieces, I thought there would be a lot of difference and asked the SA to bring in two of everything... two 5 motif bracelets, two sets of Vintage earrings, and two 20 motif necklaces. I told him I liked my pearls to match hence I wanted to buy the set at the same time so everything matched. As it turns out, all pieces looked so close, it didn't even matter. The MOP has iridescence, so each motif is slightly differently anyway. If I were to get more MOP pieces, for me, I wouldn't bother asking the SA to bring in duplicate pieces. That's just me though.
As FYI... what I do find hard to match is pearl strands. I love Mikimoto pearls and have many strands, but I purchased each strand at different times. None of my pearl strands match, some have more pink overtone and some have more silver overtone. I used to wish I could have all strands that perfectly matched. But now... I love how unique each piece it.
Pearls/mother of pearl are natural pieces from nature. Each piece is unique, so I would just enjoy them.
If you want piece of mind you can always order two online and return one.

Personally i'd wait to see in person. MOP can vary quite a bit.
More than that though, VCA makes it such a FUN experience to purchase from there. Champagne, gifts, etc. For me, it's part of the allure of buying from there

I get it! I'm still saving so it will be a while before I make the plunge. We go to Vegas quite often so maybe later this year and I'll hit a boutique.
