So I am struggling. I have always wanted a pair of Gucci Brixton Loafers but I keep purchasing Princetowns. I found a pair of great Valentino Loafers which I have been enjoying in the meantime since I wanted loafers and got them at a great price. However I keep thinking about purchasing them and the price keeps going up.

Do you own both of these shoes or only one kind? Does it make sense to only own one or the other type? Are they too similar even though one is a mule and the other is a true loafer?

Neither are true loafers. I don't have either but I've tried both on.

Princeton is a classic slipper, I would pleased just with these.

The Brixton is really comfortable. Designed so you can wear them folded down (but I don't know anyone who does this). Fine as soft-backed loafers but only if your type of foot will keep the up, it seems to stretch easily.

If you want loafers get the Jordaans. I don't think the Brixtons are a substitute.

However, Gucci loafers are were it's at. Valentino does great RTW but as for shoes, I guess their Rockstuds are notable. For loafers I'd always go to Gucci.

I ordered a pair of Jordaans the other day (my very first Gucci shoes) and received them today...will try them soon. I also am eyeing the Princetowns and would really like to have them both in black as well as in white...

I have also been looking at the Brixton, are they being phased out, I only see black and white available online. I remember before they were many colors. I better hurry and buy it before it's all gone for good, but the price keeps going up.

I have a pair of the Princetowns, I adore them and I'm going to be buying a pair in white and that stunning latte colour... they suit the climate where I live perfectly (barring winter). The Brixton and Jordaans are nice but don't call to me the same way. Having said that, if you like them- get them! Gucci are one of my preferred shoes brands- I've never been unhappy with the quality and comfort.

I have two pairs of the Gucci Jordaans in my closet. One in a bright fabric that I love, and the other in classic leather. They are both very comfortable and can be dressed up or down. They are great!

Unlike most other designer shoes, I do not have to size up in these to be comfortable.

Please allow me to side step on this... for those of you who own Jordaans or Brixton loafers, did you go to a cobbler first thing after getting the shoes to get a layer of rubber protector (not those thin stickies you can do at home but sole work done by a cobbler)? I'm not very comfortable knowing the out sole is made of animal skin and was told by a cobbler that it's best to get the rubber protector first thing after buying leather soled shoes. Would the shoes last long without the rubber protector before they need resole work? Thank you.

I normally do go to my "shoe guy" before I wear any shoes of this type for the first time. It makes them last a very long time and is not that noticeable to others when done professionally by a cobbler. Very worth it!

Years ago, I did not do this right away to a pair, and they did not last as nicely as pairs done immediately. So personally, I recommend doing it right away for maximum protection.

Thank you for answering! Very helpful to learn this from someone not the SA nor the cobbler LOL. I'll go to the cobbler right after getting the shoes.

I have a pair of Princetowns, a couple pairs of Jordaans and a couple of pairs of Brixtons (I guess I have been inadvertently collecting over the last seven years or so). I personally love them all for different reasons, and don't consider any of them to be too duplicative of the others. Personally, if you're interested in investing in two styles, I'd go for the Brixton and the Princetown, as I think they have the most visual differentiation while on your feet. Good luck with your decision!
